Just finished buying five Hitec HS-7954SH servos for $79.95 each and all servo arms, need to decide on what servo to use for the throtle would like a standard Hign volt servo for it of just might use a JR DS 821 with in line voltage reg. Now I just need to buy tuned pipe, have a Slimeline pits I could use but want the power and less noise. Anyone want to but a Slimeline pits mufler for a DA50?

I prefer to use beefy throttle servos so I don't have flame outs down low. So I have been using the Hitec 5985 and have not had one single issue (running 6.6 volt A123's). I'd just get another high voltage beefy servo for the throttle. Many people here use the big servos on the throttle. The vibrations, not the torque, are what we worry about. By the time you add the servo and regulator you're there.

Well, it's no Joe Airport Production ...but here are a few clips of my Yak from Monday. The camera is a bit shaky and I suck at editing, but it was fun anyway. Hope y'all enjoy.

Hey Jeff that was awesome. Tell you the truth I had no idea mine was going to be a production. I never saw my friend Paul's work. I was expecting a video just like yours. I like just the flying videos, so that was great. Nice flying. Your plane is almost the same exact weight as mine. There's lots of cool videos and pictures on this thread lately. I say we keep it going.

Great video! Like the close ups of each menuver. If I can learn to do half of thiem before the plane is planted, I willl be happy. Can you tell me your batter and receiver set up. I am curious about the weight. Are you using a Smart Fly system, dual batteries, etc. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I run a single 2300mah A123 through a Fromeco Kodiak switch to power the rx (AR9000) and a 4.8v NiMH (~2000mah) on the ignition. No regs, PE's, etc. Just the basics. I do run an optical ignition kill.

Other light weight goodies include:
Kevan tires (the cheap ones)
Titanium axles
CF spinner
No spats or gear cuffs/fairings

Yep our setups are very close. I have the Kavan expensive tires, no titanium axles, no gear fairings but I do have wheel spats. We're within an ounce of each other.

I get 5-6 10 minute flights on a 2300 A123. So an hour total. 7955's and a 5845 on throttle.

Hey Jeff. Good to hear from you. I was just coming here to post a link to a video and saw all your cool pic's. I like the picture of the Yak in your sun glasses. Very cool.

This is one a friend at the field put together. Pretty funny. I did NOT pick the music.

I'm working on a Video of the Edge now. It was shot by "Tankd" up at Tyler the day after the maiden. Your friend did an awesome job editing that video.

Charles, Just wanted you to know, I contacted ES Composites and they noted what you said, 2 inches additional header length required for the ES55, with a total of 14 inches required. Thanks again for the great advise. Do you think the 2 inches can be added via the silicone connector tube or do I need a longer header?

I wasn't saying you needed 2 extra inches with the ES55. I was just saying the baffle moved back 1" in the large part of the pipe would be equal to more than 1" difference in the header. I would buy the E55 and try it without adding any length to the header. If you got the 50cc version you might have to add to the header for the extra cc's. The ES55 already has the baffle moved back.

I apologize for the confusion. ES, the pipe manufacturer said the baffle in the ES55 pipe is 1" further back and would require 2 additional inches of header i.e. 14 inch header for a 23 10 or 24 8 prop.
