Could be as simple as a LE being to lean. Have you checked to see if it is pulling fuel when you are fliping it choked? On my DL if I was lean on the LEN it would do the same sort of things....It was very sensitive once I was in the sweet spot.
I am in Fort collins, and will be out at love all week getting a new plane dialed for the weekend.
I have a New Walbro carb for that motor also, but I doubt you need it the stock carb is decent if its working properly!
Anyways let me know if I can help out, shoot me an email if you like

Is the plug wet/flooded after many flips? If so, the problem is more with the ignition.
Otherwise, the carb should be cleaned. For example, the filtering mesh inside the carb can be clogged badly.
By reading your posts, it sounds like there is a problem with fuel delivery.
I share the same frustration over missed IMAC contest. Maybe considering a backup engine down the road. Engine problem can strike any time.

Great suggestion on replacing the carb.
Is it the same carb as the DA-100 or the DA-100L?
Any difference there?
Will try to get one shipped to me later this week (if I can get one fast enough).
What about needle settings for the walbro carb on the DLE-111??
Any suggestions?
I will have one day to swap the carb, test fly and then the contest will be the next day.
Any help would be great.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Oh yeah. I am frustrated.
Will order a Walbro Carb for the DLE-111 tomorrow if I can get one.
But I am going to go for a second plane.
I still have my old 2.6 meter Comp Arf.
I will put an engine in it and have it as a second bird and forget the small planes I have been dicking around with.
They never fly as well as the big ones and I like clean smooth flying - Bigger is better.
I always end up flying the big ones anyway because they just fly better.
Just gotta get the DLE to start.
Thanks

Starting needle setting are the same. The 100l and 100 use the same carb. Start with 1-1/2 open for both needles and lean them down from there. I hate to give turn numbers but, at sea level, they would end up around 1 open on the low and 1-1/8 or so on the high. Note I said "around" and "sea level".
I'd still be looking for an air leak and tighten screws nicely. Might even consider using some Permatex Anaerobic sealer at each layer of the carb/reed stack. Very, very thin if you do.

Hello,
Is your fuel line clear enough to see if there are any bubbles in the line to the carb? Air in the line will cause that, it can come from a pin-hole in the line itself or from a fitting on the fuel tank. Do you have "barbs" on the tank lines and are they lines clamped well on the tank? I have that problam once on a Fox 6.4 an d it drove me crazy trying to figure it out but it had a hole where the line curved out of front of the tank. Best of luck to you. John....
One more thing to look at, is the clunk against the back of the tank?
