IHere is whaat I don't understand they did absolutely nothing to reinforce the langing gear mounting blocks in the wings.
ZDS
At my club, a club member tore out the landing gear in "version 1" . He is now flying with the new wing with lightening holes and has not had a problem with the landing gear even with hard landings. So they may not have changed the design but instead used better wood and more glue.

Well, just maidened my new/used H9 Blue nose....first part of the day started off with loading the plane in the Edge, the wheel disengrated as I pushed the plane in..apparently these hubs tend to crack alot...no biggy, back up wheels on. (conviniently given to me at time of trade)

Then it was off to the field. put a brand new Saito 1.25 GK in it, with the 90deg adapter that I bought through here....and so I fuel her up and run a taxi test....All good. Back to the pits, check voltage, fuel and back to the runway... *read through this thread about the recommended CG and throws* and power up and off we go....she transitioned nice, kept her fast and level to wheels up and gently pulled back on the stick to get some alt. (flying jet habit of power through the turns) and a right hand pattern and she just wanted to climb....few clicks of down and she was ok..... Man, 30% expo and she felt heavy...wich made me think of all the threads I have read on her snapping over on turns....as heavy as she felt on the sticks, I knew power through a turn was a must on this baby. And alot of it! (my opinion)

This is a true flying scale warbird in my opinion. The horror stories all make sense to me now. Too much elevator, not enough speed and she is going in...lmao I did everything to keep that in the back of my mind and made sure she stayed fast. Once she was up, this thing was on rails!!!! I love this mustang. Once this 1.25 breaks in, its on like donkey kong!

What props are you guys running to make this baby sing? I want speed baby!!! I want my 1.25 to SCREAM!!

To those new to flying and getting this mustang, from throttle up, keep your eflux up on the deck before you pull back to climb..let her build some speed and stay on the throttle through climb out. Dont think your gonna chop and make a nice turn......she wants power!

Flaps were nice to slow down, but these wheels suck. So far the least of my problems.

OH YEAH! Did I mention on the first flight my 90degree adapter snapped? Had to pull the threads out and hang the muffler outside. Not pretty, but kept me from going home early. 4 Tanks today and had a blast!!!

Get the 90* adapter from Tony. RC Specialties.
It has a radius at the end of the threads that should stop the metal fatigue failure.

You're going to love the 1.25. I run a 15x8 prop

Ya in my post on the previous page I recommend throwing the kit wheels and tires away , and geting any 3 1/4" Robarts...............as for the Saito manifold , I have broken 4 or 5 of them , the problem with Saito is for this engine configuration the cheap way is to hang it of the side , but the Saito mufflers are heavy so if you don't build a small wood bracket , mounted to the firewall that you can tie-wrap ( I use steel ones from elect department Home Depot), the weight wil brake the header pipe after a few hours. I just did this in my Miss America , I installed a nice support bracket on the Bluenose so as to satbilize and support the muffler, and it will last a long time .

I agree when I got my Bluenose in the air I was amazed at how solid it felt , and how well it tracks,,,,,,I think the best pro , and I have tried alot , is the 15 X 8 it gets you the highest rpm , and good torque , my 125 gets better every time I fly it..................................ZDS

yeah, I can build a support. The extra nose weight shouldnt hurt too bad. I have a little down in it anyhow...I dont mind nose heavy!! LMAO, kind of like deadsticks that feel like the space shuttle!!

Here's my muffler support bracket installation. I'd heard these 90-degree fittings can break, if you don't support the weight of the muffler. (Cable tie was temporary, replaced with a hose clamp for in-service).

...and I'm using a 15x8 APC prop on my Saito 125, as well.

You need a Tru-Turn TT-0823A prop adapter nut. I had to shorten the retention bolt a bit to get a nice snug-down on the spinner.

for the exhaust use the topflte p-51 exhaust which is much better and available for $10. Gear doors can be made better with ply and a top layer of balsa so that it can be contoured sanded in place for a perfect fit.

Hey Guys.

I have look very hard at the ESM P-51B Mustang ARF on troy built models website and I like this bird. I have yet to hit the buy key. I have read great things about the ESM P-51 and the big thing I love is, their are in-stock and so are the parts. Plus the price is right!! $299.00 vs $399.00. Save $100.00. Just add $39.00 to the $100.00 and buy the retract gear system that's made for this plane. Now if Hangar 9 would sell the drawing for this bird. I could cut and build a better fues and be back in the air soon. If the wife give me the go, I will jump on the ESM, but for now, I am in the dog house!!! I forgot her birthday!!! Big mistake!!!!! Its not fun sleeping in the workshop!!![][]

Here are some pics of my Mustang. I have a left and right set of wings for sale, brand new in the box. I beleive they are version two, as they were replacement parts sent to me just in the last month. I fixed the original wings, shipping damage etc.
