Default A favor....

Hey guys,

I have two items, conversion engines, listed in the RCU sales section. So far between the two there has been something like 3200 views!!, with not one offer, nor one comment, nor one question. Would you guys take a look at the ads and tell me what you think?? I really don't think they are over priced, especially when one considers that for the asking price I am offering free shipping. Need some advice.

Thanks,
AV8TOR1977

I had a bit of a time finding the listings. Maybe post the link, which I think is this one: http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/sea...uestTimeout=60

Good luck.

Regards,

Richard

Considering the mill work and balancing of the flywheel, prop hub, FB ring, carb rebuild and free shipping...the Stihl 27cc is a great deal!
I will go post this over at the airboat forum I am a member of and see if someone there bites. Great deal, I just don't need it.

Aviator is trying to be politically correct.

It is not favored by RCU to post links to your own ADS

But it is OK as you found them and posted a link.

Thanks Bradh2000. I think the Echo 21cc is a good deal too, but the Stihl 27cc is a smoking deal! New Frank Bowman ring and all ready to go!

Well, just comments, certainly not criticisms.

1. I am not, but I think many flyers are brainewashed into thinking electronic CDI is "the thing" to have and are turned off by a flywheel/magneto system.

2. The carb linkage on the Echo is not a straight shot, and would require a bellcrank. Maybe a twister adapter would be more user friendly.

3. Are the weight and dimensions shown? That would help some decide if they would fit their planes. I do see where you invite email questions and these could be available then.

4. I think both the Echo ad Stihl are quality engines and far above most of the Chinese engines being promoted. However the Chinese engines in some ways look more like what glow engine guys are used to seeing and some are cheaper for a brend new (and unproven) engine. If I were in the market for this size engine, your engines would be my choice.

Good luck.

Regards,

Richard

Thanks for the observations. As for me, I would rather have the high quality Stih or Echo engines than one of the unproven and often troublesome cheap imports. I have been flying the Echos and Stihls for years and they are trouble free and you just can't wear them out. You are somewhat right about a lot of people wanting electronic ignitions, but they would only be about a $50.00 add on if someone wanted to put them on these engines. (Southeast RC Engines has them for $50.00) http://www.southeastrcengines.com/see_024.htm

Thanks again,
AV8TOR

Including weight would be a good idea, other than that looks good.

I do not know why a lot of people seem to think CDI is the only way to go. I have had trouble with 3 of the 4 RCXEL ignitions. I never had any trouble with my mag ignition systems even when used with a none 2.4 radio system.

You may want to cut the extra gasket off by spacer & paint the cyl red or black. Guys seem to like "pretty engines" Go figure that!

Another good point though, with a mag a lot of extra wires, a switch & a battery for ignition is eliminated. Also no need to charge a extra battery & the expense of buying a extra battery.

For reliability you cannot beat a good quality engine like a Echo or similar with a mag ignition. If and when a real small mag ignition comes out on the market...most all people will be using it. Hope some guy understands this and buy you good engine. I know AV8TOR would not sell junk. Its a certain country that does. Very few good brands built there. Capt,n

Perhaps people just don't have the ready cash.

If you could take alternate forms of payment that may help.

Thanks for the help and comments guys. I sold the Stihl; still have the Echo. What size and type of engines are you all looking for? Maybe I will do some more. Note that when I clean them all up, inspect and convert them, I do it right. If they don't run perfectly on my test stand, I won't sell them...

I can't remember his name but he use to own BME.

Anyway he said the problem with smaller motors is it cost
almost the same to make as the big ones.

I buy engines these days for the weight.

Why run a light engine and lead at 3/4 throttle
when you can run a larger engine no lead at 1/3 throttle?

Since you seem to convert a lot of quality engines, why not list the ones that you have or are planning to convert in this forum. The list would let others know about the types of quality engines that are suitable for conversion.

Also there's nothing to stop anyone sending you a PM if they are interested in one of your engines for whatever reason.

I will probably have some more up for sale in a few weeks. Maybe some bigger engines too this time. Right now I am dealing with my second herniated disk in my back... Major pain!!

I don't know what anybody else might want but an Echo in the 40-50cc size might draw some attention, especially with electronic ignition.

Just another outlet for you, there are a few of us airboat guys getting around and the hobby is starting to get more interest since they let them have a stand at the last big boat event.
The above site is american aswell so might be some locals near you.

AV8TOR, I will spread the word around this area. I know you do good work on them engines. Its hard to get guys in this area to even try gas engines. Only one club member just bought a DLE20 size gas engine. They all say they want a gas engine after seeing how gas engines run...but nobody wants to spend any $$ right now. Looks like a recession coming...its the stupid polititions working the poor people over. I am pissed about that.

Thanks Captain John, and I'm with ya about the economic problems. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, (and screwed!)

Take care,
