Najary,
You have done an amazing job on this plane and I love the colors and scheme especially the cowling area. When you get a chance can you post the Names of the Colors you used?
Thank you.

The colors have no names.
I buy the paints in a paints car shop, I select the colors among thousands of colors trying to find a color that will match the MonoKote colors.

I think Chris was asking if you can list the Monokote colors you used on this. You work is amazing.

Smoothing the seams between colors? I've never seen that before. Can you elaborate a little on that for some of us that are following along?

Hi Mike,
I don't mean to butt in here but since I do the same thing I'll explain: When you paint the colors there will be a slight build up of paint along the tape edge. Knocking down the edges after the tape is pulled with 1500 or 2000 grit paper mostly eliminates and edge you can feel between colors. This also helps reduce the amount of clear you have to spray on. Its amazing how much junk knocks loose from the tape line and how "flat" it makes your paint feel.
Najary, your doing an amazing job on this build, can't wait to see the finished product..

It might have been just the paint I was using, but I had problems some years back trying to smooth the seam with the colour blending into the white.

That happens when the white is not smooth enough.
It can be solve by sanding that area again until you get rid of the the blending colour.

Say is there some text out there that explains in detail how to paint like this? We have a guy in our club that paints planes beautifully but they endup weighing a ton. He painted cars for a living when he was younger but I think his methods aren't well suited to model airplanes.

Hello Isaak,
Outstanding job you did!
I really like your clear canopy, Whaoo! And your paint sheme is superb! [8D]
I am also a happy Xigris owner
With the great help of Jean-Pierre Zardini from ZN and Fred from LietzCreation, I finished my "Xigris C2" already 2 month ago.
It's a marvelous "F3A machine" ;-))
You will be amazed by the F3A flying ability of this plane! Great lines-tracker, wonderfull knive edje performance (the rudder power is impressive, it took me several flights to adapt) , the spin and stall turn are delecfull, the snaps are neat and crispy (if my fingers follow )
I put the new Plettenberg Xtra 30-9 EVO II (great power ), the Jeti Opto Spin 99, and Savox SC1257 servos all the way.
I will be happy to meet you in Austria :-))
All the best to the Israel team, c.u. there,
Benoit from Belgium

Benoit,
Don't want to hijack this thread but what ESC are you using with the 30-9 and what prop?

I use the very reliable Jeti Spin 99 Opto with 22° timing and the APC 21/14E on the pletti Xtra 30-9 EVO II
be aware of +100 amps on the ground at full static thrust, which is of course useless...
but around 90Amps airborn in heavy head wind is sometimes usefull.
Cheers,
Benoit
