What is the difference in fiberglass composite vs. fiberglass? are they the same?

Good question. My guess is that it could be the fiberglass strands mixed in with some other fiber like Kevlar or carbon fiber.
Is there any hull in particular where composite is named?

Generally it just means the completed lay-up, its a composite of resin and fibreglass fibres .Fibreglass refers to the fibres used, most people just shorten the name to fiberglass.

As long as it's gelcoated, standard paint prep techniques apply....nothing special. You won't even need to primer as the gelcoat scuffed is better than any primer out there!

Here's a tip, If you have a carbon fiber boat (full sized) ie. sailing boat, Insurance companies often refuse to insure them. However, if you state that it is a "Composite construction" instead of "Carbon construction", they will ensure them. I learnt that one when trying to insure my carbon sailing boat.

The Ady Gil or Earthrace which was formerly named was a composite carbon fibre and kevlar with a non-toxic anti-fouling paint. You can see it on the show whale war's before it was sunk by a Japanese whaling support vessel MV Shōnan Maru 2 collided on January 6, 2010, resulting in loss of the Ady Gil's bow and one injured crew member.
