Best way to get a good "ripped" look?
For my next body, I want it to look like something was torn out of it, but I can't see that working very well with liquid mask. I assume that would mean I need to use masking tape, but masking tape seems to rip too clean, I want some rougher edges.
This is what I got on my welding helmet when I tried to use tape:

I tried that, problem is, the tape rips too clean. I can't get it to rip with a really rough edge. Maybe I'm using the wrong tape? I'm using green painters tape.

perhaps. is it 3m? thats good stuff. i guess you can try a cheaper more paperlinke tape.
depending on how crisp an edge you want will vary what you use aswell. as you could use a more material like thing so it frays rather than tears.
or just mask and cut it to the shap you want. like this jagged edge here for example.

That looks good! What I'm aiming for is similar to the Monster Energy logo, for lack of a better reference. I guess I'll just have to keep working at it with very small pieces, and just organize them to the look I want. Which is why it's called custom, right? lol

nice, simple and clean. looks good.

Thanks guys, and those are some really nice looking paint jobs. Hopefully I can do half as good as that.
Money just got tight, so I'm going to have to put off buying paint for a little while, but when I get it done I'll be sure to show it!
