4 star substitutions
I want to get a 4* 60 because I love my .40 sized one so much, but I am finding that impossible because of SIG's woes. So, then I was going to get a Tiger 60 but that is all out of stock everywhere too (and Tower says they show it as temp. discontinued). So I am looking for a substitution. I DON'T want a Pulse 60...I had one and it was okay, but I don't want another. I want something that is .60 size and like a Tiger or 4 star...I have a .75AX and a .91FS as possible engines.

RE: 4 star substitutions
I've never heard about world models. Are they good quality? I always wanted a Super Chipmunk and they have one...Super Chipmunk 90F...Is that too difficult to fly though I wonder. I have an Aero-Works Extra .90 that I don't fly because I'm nervous about crashing it. I fly the heck out of my 4* 40 and I'm kinda looking for a similar experience but bigger (smoother).
That chipmunk is tempting...Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Paul

go to airborne models website. same as world models. and yes some of my flying buddies have had a few airborne models and had problems with weak landing gear. they also have some nice looking .60 and .90 pattern type planes. these models are covered with toughlon covering which i have had no experience with but other than that i have heard and read good postings about their arfs

RE: 4 star substitutions
Thanks, but as I said in my original post I don't want a Pulse. I had one and I'm not looking for another. Anyway, I found someone in the marketplace selling a 4 star 60...So, problem solved. I bought the Super Chipmunk too.

Check out the East RC "Lucky 13" - looks nice, two piece wing, .60 sized airframe, modern architecture. I'm really tempted by it. http://www.eastrc.org/estorelucky13.htm

RE: 4 star substitutions
OK...........so I went to Hobby Horse website and my Sig Four Star 60 kit is ordered. A bit more than my LHS but shipping is included and most of all..........THEY HAVE THEM! Now I'll be looking for the big brown truck. I wonder if Sig will ever get back to kitting this plane. Our local hobby shop says that this is not the first time that Sig kits were hard to come by. I'm excited! A friend of mine in Ohio says this is the kind of kit that you throw all the sticks and a jar of glue in a bag and shake it up and dump out the plane. I've been building for a long time, 50+ years, and I'm ready for a simple to build, simple to fly plane and I think this is just the ticket.
Cheers

RE: 4 star substitutions
Well, the joke's on me!! I went back to the Hobby Horse page for Sig Airplanes and read what I missed before. There is an explanation that Sig is having balsa problems and is waiting for another container and Hobby Horse states that kits are expected in February. I cancelled my order from Hobby Horse for a kit that is "NOT" in stock.
Then a friend told me that Bruce Tharpe of BTE models was the designer of the original Four Star and his Venture 60 was a similar but improved version of that design. Well to make a long story short, I called BTE models this morning, talked to Bruce himself and ordered my Venture 60 kit, which is in stock. Should have it by the end of the week.........yippee!!!!
Cheers,
Andy

You will live to regret the decision to buy the Venture 60. No other kit will ever come close. There are not enough good things to say about them. They are even finish sanded for you. If you are careful handling the parts, the covering sticks perfectly. It is also an outstanding flying plane. Disgusting...
