Default trike geared warbirds

I have a bet going on how many warbirds that had trike gear and I can only think of 11 warbirds that had trike gear during WW2, they are the P39, P63, P38 Me-262, B24, B25,A20 havoc, b26, A26. and the B29. Outside of cargo and observation types am I missing anything?

P-61 Black Widow

I'm sure there are many, many others depending on just how obscure you want to get. The British "Albermarle" medium bomber/recon bird and the German Ar-234 jet bomber for instance.

My favorite 'nosedragger'- P-63. There were even 'target' aircraft, like the Culver, that were of this type.

now this is one I have never seen. Looks like Willie learned hi slessons and tried to fix that narrow landing gear problem that the 109 had. This looks like a cleaned up and modernized version of the 109. Anyone know why it wasn't produced?

That plane looks to me like what you would get if a P-51 and an ME-262 got together and had babies

(couldn't resist)

Ram Bro, thats the Me-309 designed early in the war to relace the Me-109 but due to the fact the performance wasnt that much better and the 109 could still out turn the 309 the Luftwaffe canceled the project. Its speed was actually about 50 mph faster, but due to the fact that after fully armed its performance suffered to the point that it really wasnt any better than the 109. If i remember right instead the Luftwaffe chose the FW-190 as the replacement fighter. It looks sweet though!

The performance that suffered wasn't just turn radius. The 109 already sucked for duration and range. Add weight, then add more horsepower to lift the weight, and finally top that off by taking away room inside the fuselage for the extra wheel and retract mechanism. It was almost worthless, even as an interceptor, because it was out of gas about the time it reached the bombers it was tasked to shoot down. It would have had to be posted to airfields where the bomber streams would pass so would have been a tactical pita.... and easily avoided.

looks to me that you could take a 109 fuse and modify it and the wing and use a 262 canopy add trike gear and there you have it......uhmmmmmmmm
