CLD Anarchy Airboat
I guess I'm one of the first ones lucky enough to get one of these new airboats from Carlos at C Laser Designs. This model is the Anarchy, intended for a brushless motor, but he has a nitro version as well.
The kit is very reasonably priced, and FAR better quality than anything Dumas ever produced. The parts are laser cut, making all the parts precise, and the joints tight. For $50 more, I had Carlos build, seal, and mount the electronics. Worth every penny, he did a nice job. It arrived well packaged, and I quickly got to installing the radio receiver & servo. I drilled holes in the deck for the hatch latches, and a hole in the hatch for the antenna tube.
I took it out while on an errand for a quick test on the pond. Holy Poop Batman, the power to weight ratio is AWESOME! I had it airborne a couple of times with a little too much throttle. It easily climbs to the top of the steep bank, something my nitro powered airboat can't do.
I've never owned a brushless motor or LiPo batteries before. I knew these motors had a fair amount of power, but WOW. I would have thought an electric airboat to be fairly quiet, but it spins the prop so hard, it makes quite a roar. Not as loud as the nitro models, but you won't be sneaking up on a duck anytime soon either.
I ran it hard for about 10 minutes before the pack died. Very little warning, just suddenly fell off plane, and settled into the water. Done. I managed to get a few throttle burps to bump it back to the nearest bank. Excellent performance right up to the end, no complaints.
Following Carlos' advice, I put the battery pack in the center of the hull, and as far back as it would slide. The balance is very good, and drifts nicely in the turns. But this is a small boat, prone to weathervaning in cross winds. I might add a small piece of 1/8"x1/8" down the center of the hull to help with stability at high speeds.
So far, nothing but grins. Performance is excellent, handling is pretty good and expect a slight tweak to improve that a bit too. Very good design. I might mothball the Dumas Windy I was building. Just no comparison when it comes to quality of materials in the two kits.
There will be videos and I'll take pics with the big Nikon later (I'll get Dennis to drive while I shoot, or vice-versa). Sorry for the quality of these shots, hard to drive and shoot with a cheapie camera at the same time...

RE: CLD Anarchy Airboat
That'sa nice airboat you got there , you don't mind if I steal those pictures for my website do you?
You were the second person who ordered one from me and the only one who got it already built, I hope you like it, I shipped several of this airboats this past weeks so I hope to see them soonbuilt and running. I'm working on the gas version this week, same design just much bigger and hopefully we can meet someday to do some friendlyracing
PS: I can't wait to see videos

Help yourself to the pictures. Hopefully I'll get better action shots with the Nikon D70s later.
Looking forward to the 26cc gasser version. I'll "need" one of those too! Maybe you should send me your prototype for photographic documentation...
Me -n- Dennis are in the Cocoa area, tad over an hour East of you. You're welcome to come run with us anytime. Dennis periodically makes the trip up to Ocala once a month. I've been there once, hope to go again soon.
I might end up ordering a second kit just to have a spare. Really impressed with it!

Hopefully have more pictures & videos next weekend. Been busy with home remodeling stuff...
Your website is looking good! But it's 2manytoyZ, not 2manytoys. When I went to register my website, someone already had that domain name [sm=eek.gif] Oh well.
A little fine tuning, might have some of the gasser boys worrying. [X(]
One thing I love about this FAST boat, is that it's quiet enough to run on the neighborhood pond, without some blue haired old bitty fussing about the noise.
