How to accurately measure RPM on multi blades rotor
The problem with the regular stroboscopic system is that it gives many readings, based on the number of blades. If n is a number of blades, you will get a reading at 1/n, 2/n.....n/n, 1+1/n RPM.
When you run a 2 bladed heads, the reading is obvios.
I run a 4 headed one on a scale heli. Assuming an RPM of 1000, the blades will seem to stop at 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1250, 1500 RPM etc..
It complicates set up.
Any ideas (except painting each blade a different color)?

To solve the prolem I am installing a GV-1 on the machine and will set the RPM through it.This is not a direct measurement but will probably do the job.
