Align 3G Flybarless System

I have my 3G kit on the way for my Trex 600.:D Has anyone here set one up yet?
I have some questions about the mechanical setup that the manual doesnt seem to cover[:o]

I got the 3G installed. The install was a snap and the electronic settings where easy to setup as well. I'm waiting on warmer weather to flight test it. Its cold here in NY this weekend:)

Are you able to post some pictures of it?

I'll try and snap some tonite. I'm also in the process of converting this 600 to 12s.

RE: Align 3G Flybarless System

Well I just got my 1st flight with the 3G in. I just hovered and did a few laps around the field. I set my gains to about 40 percent before the flight. From the threads i read this would be a good starting spot. Over the winter I also upgraded the power from the stock 6s align motor to a 12S Scorion setup. The 1st flight can be sumed up in 1 word WOW. power to spare on tap and the 3 G tracked very well. I'm on my way out the door now to get another quick flight in and check the tracking on the blades to be sure its spot on ( I forgot the tracking tape on the maiden). I'll get it into idle 1 and get a bit more agressive with some flips and rolls:D So far the so good.

Back from the field and have two more flights on my Monster Rex:) I started with a few more laps around the field in idle up to see if the new motor or the 3G would display any bad intentions. Everything seemed fine so I did my 1st Flip with it. Man what a differance! flips where much faster and I didnt need to correct at all it tracked like it was on rails. Rolls where also faster. I did one nice Wide loop and it was great. Thats about all the 3D that I could get away with ,I'm still working on learning inverted hovering. Once I've shacken off all my winter rust I'll see how well it hovers inverted.:D

Tell me guys, when you install an Align flybarless, you can remove the gyro?, the kit has a
elevator, aileron AND rudder gyro built in???.
I was told that when installed, those make your heli so stable,
you can let it hover by itself? (to a point...)?
Thanks guys!.

Yes it replaces the tail gyro and no the heli wont hover by itself.

RE: Align 3G Flybarless System

Hi

I just upraded my T-Rex 600 NSP to the 3G flybarless system.

Very easy to set up. Mechanically 100 times easier than a head with a flybar... Fewer linkage rods to measure and set up.

I set the Tail gyro gain to 35% on my Futaba T7C. Aileron and Elevator gain was left at the default 50% Then took it flying. Taking off initially was abit odd, probably due do to feedback from the ground the swashplate went nuts, heli tilded all over the place. But once in the air, rocksolid. But with a sligh forward/backward oscillation.

After hovering and doing a bit of fast forward flight I had to dial down the elevator gain to about 40%, that sorted out a slight bobbing while hovering, still had a slight oscilation in high speed forward flight, dialed the elevator gain down to 35%

Now my heli is spot on :D

The difference is not that noticable in hover mode, although it seems the heli is a tad more stable in gusty conditions, hovering inverted seems a bit easier, but doing flips, rolls and other maneuvers that require quick collective and cyclic changes are so much snappier and crisper.

Auto's seems a tad easier as well, seems like the head does not loose it's kenetic energy as quicly as a head with a flybar, but that is pobably due to the fact that you have less weight and air resistance from the paddles.

It's flybarless for me from here on :D

I have been flying the 550E 3g for about 2-3 weeks now.   Absolutely love it.  Flys just like the sim.

Has anyone tried a fbl without the bandaide's? Tail Gyro only. My guess is that it will fly very well with a modern computer radio and setup correctly. Years ago there were some designs out there, but I never got a go at one. If any of you has any input on it, I would appreciate it. I will be using  a Trex 700 fbl, with a Trex tail Gyro. The one thing I can see so far, it the Trex head is not very adjustable, but it seems a person should be able to do it with the radio. I will be using a JR 9503 for the task. Should be interesting!!

Here is my Align Trex 600 with 3G Stretched to 690 with KDE upgrades. I am using a Quark for the tail.
