Default Glassing the freewing p-51

Has anyone done this? I was planning on doing it with some half once clothe and ezekote or polycrillic. The guy at the hobby shop recommended against that though saying it would make it too heavy and not fly well. He recommended just painting the foam directly but I'd rather not do that. I've got some mods I want to do and want to make the panel lines more scale.

Do do you think this can hold the weight? I feel like I've seen people glass foamies of this size and they handle fine in flight. But the hobby shop guy has me thinking twice.
