Hi sporn, the floats look the ticket. They may be ok for landing in long grass. How securely do they attach to the fuse? Did they take long to install?

Hi Gravity,
It snapped right in in the back, in the front I just had to bend the wire that came with it. The key is to seal the upper and lower halves really well with glue, so they wouldn't fill with water. If the winds are calm tomorrow, I might try them out at the beach.
The floats weigh only 2.5oz more than the regular landing gear.

Hi
Can anyone tell me what the average shipping time to NZ is from United Hobbies???????
Cheers
By the way, what prop is best for the brushless 2408-21 from Unitied Hobbies and where do you get it from? [sm=50_50.gif]

RE: Art-Tech 3Ch Cessna 182 RC Radio Control Plane
My last order from United Hobbies took almost three weeks and I've heard it took four for some others. A bit slower than the 6 days when they were small.
I used to run a GWS 8060HD on my 2408-21 though I know Jaskel runs a APC 9x4.5E prop.

RE: Art-Tech 3Ch Cessna 182 RC Radio Control Plane
I'm running an 8x4.5E APC prop with mine and it has been great with that setup. As for our Cessna's Toyman has the Ego Models and I have the Art-Tech. They are identical however, as the Ego, Parkflyers and Art-Tech are all made by Art-Tech in China and rebadged in their respective countries of sale. Ego: Australia, Parkflyers.com: U.S.A. and Art-Tech: Everywhere else... The only difference is the box it comes in and in some cases, the decals. As for shipping time to N.Z, who knows. It seems to be a bit of a lottery with United Hobbies. I've ordered some things from them that have arrived in under two weeks and other stuff has taken close to a month, admittedly, part of the order was on back-order but I would say around two weeks as a general rule... You can always pay the extra and get express gold-class postage which will probably have it to you in a few days.

RC Kiwi,
I just buy them from the local hobby store, it's always a good place to start for any of this stuff, and I'd be very surprised if your local hobby store doesn't stock them. In a worst case, just ask them to order them in for you... failing that, you can order them in through Modelflight in Adelaide who I know for sure do world-wide shipping. Not sure how much the freight would be, but shouldn't cost very much at all. The link is here...
http://www.modelflight.com.au/acp_propellers.htm
...I'm actually using the 8x4E (Not 8x4.5E as I posted before...) Modelflight part number APCLP08040E and they only cost $3.95AU so order a few!! Jaskel and others are using the 9.4.5E with good results, but when I tried that size the motor came down very hot!! The 8x4E brings the motor down quite cool. In the very short term you can run GWS slow flyer props, (The big ugly orange ones!!) but they do tend to flex a bit more and you'll lose a little power too but they should fly all right, at least until you get your APC's in...

RE: Art-Tech 3Ch Cessna 182 RC Radio Control Plane
alright second flight woth the new cessna, after crashing on the maiden flight and snapping the fuse and main wing and messing up the motor, i rebuilt everything. took it down to the nearby school and had another go and this time it was pretty good, took off on the top of a slope and was fliying round for bout 2 mins and was flyin back towards me and i tried to pull up but it wouldn't happen, so i tried to swing back round but it was too late. plane hit the ground from bout 3 metres up straight on the nose. pushed the front part of the fuse in and racked the cowl but the rest of the plane is alright. il get it fixed and try again

Burkes 22, did you check the elevator afterwards. They have the tendancy to snap down the middle in the weak point. This would explain your loss of control.

RE: Art-Tech 3Ch Cessna 182 RC Radio Control Plane
What is a better take off? On the ground or hand launching? I have not flowen my 4 channel cessna yet. I tried to fly it the other day and I got good speed and the plane was about 1 foot off the gound and went to the right. Do I have to level the airplane with the ailerons as the plane get into the air and keep it climbing up? Need some help here on take offs. I have a 3 channel plane. Im good with that airplane. Thanks

Welcome to the world of 4 channel Cessna's.
You use the rudder to steer on the ground and the ailerons to keep it level whilst climbing out.
I only used to hand launch when the grass was too long for an ROG.

I'm a bit confused. Whats the difference between a brushless inrunner and an outrunner?????????
By the way does anyone have any pics of a steerable nose wheel that you have converted??

RE: Art-Tech 3Ch Cessna 182 RC Radio Control Plane
The simple answer is that an in-runner has a static outer casing and the shaft spins inside that outer casing. (The same as the stock brushed 480 that comes with the Cessna, only brushless) An outrunner has the shaft attached to the outer casing and that whole assembly spins around the mounted static inner section. Aussie Toyman can probably explain with much more clarity, the finer points of how brushed and brushless motors differ electronically.

I just ordered the Focus 400 EP. It has the same brushless set-up with the 2408-21 and a steerable nose wheel. $130 shipping incl. - can't beat it.

I was surfing the internet and found this.
http://www.hobby-lobby.com/electrotrainer.htm
For about the same price you get a bit more.
What do you think about it?

Does anyone know how to switch modes on a tx from mode one to mode two?
If so could you post some pics and/or instructions?

It depends on the Transmitter.
On my Hitec Optic 6 its just a matter of inserting a pin and setting Mode 2 in the programming. Other Tx's I've changed needed a spring and steel clip moved, and the wires swapped between the two pots. Not so easy for anyone not familiar with a solding iron.

I'm with aussie toyman on this. Pretty simple if you know what to look at, complicated if you have no idea about this type of thing. If you can use logic and think about it, i feel you will work it out easy enough. i.e this bit does this when moved this way, now if i swap it to here what does it do? etc etc.

Worse case scenario, you could always take a pic of it yourself and post it here.
One of us could edit the pic, and as long as you can solder OK, you could modify the Tx to change Modes.
you just have to promise to stop beating us at the Rugby, hehehe.
