Default Newbie Question - eZipper MKII

I've been flying wings for a few years and have a combat wings XE 48" wing right now - just running basic speed 400 motor. I am now building a Wing Warrior eZipper MKII and am looking to go faster with this wing. However, in the forums I don't see any middle ground between a speed 400 and people going full out with brushless motors, $100 cc esc's, lipo power, etc!

My question is this, what would be a good setup to gain some nice speed and power but not spend $250+ just for the motor and esc?! I have a 30amp esc now and was looking at the Permax 450 Turbo Motor and the Wattage Cobalt 400. The other one I read about was the Magnetic Mayhem. Any suggestions???

THanks!

Mark,
Check out allerc.com. A mega 16-15-5 brushless with a cc 25 amp ESC $155.00 to your door. They work great.

I have the E-Zipper MkII with a 16/15/3. It's not $250 for that upgrade, but it probably is more like what Rick was saying above.

Sorry I can't help with a brushed set-up. Guess it depends on what you want.

The mega 4 turn would work better than the five. The five is a tad slower and works better on the 48 in wings. On the 4 turn you can use 10 kan 1300 or 1050's they work great the other motors would not give verry good performance. The mayhem would be like puting a brick on it and the rpm's are not enough.

Chris, what about an eSlayer - what would you recommend for a wing like that - the 5 turn? I am building an ezipper but am also going to put together a multi-spar eslayer and want to make it my fast wing.

Thanks man....I've seen your posts - you definitely know your **** and some of those wings you've built are awesome....

Mark on the slayer how fast do you want it to go and what batteries do you want to use?I am finding the raider with the longer chord is more stable at higher speeds than the slayer and is less prone to prop tourque than the slayer. You wouldnt think it but for a faster 48 I prefer the raider it is just as fast and more stable. When you go faster more stable is way better. It all depends on the set up or should I say how much do you want spend.

Chris,

Thanks for the reply. Been out of town on business Well, I'd like to get to around 100 mph with it so will go brushless and was thinking the mega 16/15/4 or 5. I was thinking slayer because of the manueverability based on what I have been told by people who have them. As far as cash, I'd be looking to spend a few hundred on the motor/esc alone - the rest is not a big deal...

THanks man!!

Then go with the 4 turn on the 7/5 apc and a castle 35 esc. With 8 or 9 cells sanyo 1950 faup or kan 1800.this is a great combo.

Definitely go fith 9 cells if you want 100 mph.The 7/5apc is the prop to use for sure.
