Default P-51 Mustang Plank

Something New? Or something old with a new twist.
The plank was developed in 1954 by Al Backstrom
Combining minimum size easy construction and good performance
Just what we need for E flight
Something light easy to build that fly’s great and looks like
Nothing else you have seen the Phat P-51 Plank is inherently
Stable with a walking pace landing speed.
and it fly's with the GWS 300 or 350 with NiCads.

I recently discovered this plane when I was browsing RC Universe. The price quote I have been seeing was 29$. At that price, this plane was extremely attractive. I was ready to purchase and noticed the price has jumped to 49$. Assuming the latter price is correct, the plane becomes a little pricey. Why the price change? I still may buy one but I'll probably wait until I see one. I would probably power mine using the GWS 300 with the 6.6/1 gearbox and a 2 cell lipoly. Can you still get the CG right with the lighter battery?

Yes a 2 cell will work great the 51 fly’s with authority dragging
An 8 cell NiCad the one in the vide has a NiCad and one of the
Old GWS 280,s so dropping the extra weight will really make it
Rock
You will have to request a custom cut for your battery but
That only delays the order no price change.

Thanks for the info but you didn't answer the price thing. If your kit is good quality then the 49$ tag is probably reasonable but I was slightly annoyed when I saw the price jump. I guess I have to put the 29$ price tag in the too good to be true column. What type of foam do you use? As far as changing the battery location, are the kits made to order? I know at least a couple of Hobby Shops in my area that are interested in selling the plane, will the plane be available in Hobby Shops and when? I really love easy to assemble, simple and good flying foamies. Especially planes that fly well on cheap brushed motors. The Mustang is a great looking foamie and I'm anxious to fly one.

Here is the deal on the price jump.
The 29.99 was an introductory sale for one month to get our product
Out there nation wide. I truly wish that we could have left it there.
But the price now is very completive with other kits of this quality.
The Phat P-51 is pink foam carved on a tracer lath & painted.
The wing is CNC wire cut EPS (beaded white foam) that is painted
Decals placed and then Covered with a single sheet of clear laminate
This gives the affect of having a very smooth and wrinkle free finish.
Custom CNC cutting now it’s no big deal to attach your name
And specs to a kit on the line and have the battery slot cut to order.
To make the P-51 Start to finish is 5 days on an assembly line.
All of our kits are made in the U.S.A. we import nothing.
We are in hobby shops on the west coast and have been expanding
East. I hope this answers your questions.

I've been flying my Phat Boyz P-51 for a while now. I paid the $49.99 for mine and feel I got a great deal. The plane goes together fast and flies great. I have a GWS 300 and Li-poly's. Performance is awesome and the lighter batteries give me an extended flight. Even though I missed the "special price", I have ordered another one for my wife. I'm only afraid she will kick my *&@ in combat.
I may have to upgrade to a brushless to keep away!
Happy Flying
