Default 3d-Foamy F-18 Canopy Help Needed

This is my fist kit with a clear canopy and I'm not sure how to do it. Do you make a frame that you glue it to to then attach to the plane? If anyone has a photo(s) of their F-18 clear canopy they could post that shows how it is built up I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

A dab of hot melt at the front and rear will hold it on just fine. Usually I leave a little tab for glueing or screwing a canopy down. You can also push the edge down into the foam a little, take it out put some 3M 77 contact cement in the groove and replace the canopy. You will only get one chance at it tho. For the foamies I use hot melt most of the time. It works great for mounting servos too.

The canopy needs to be removable to access the battery. Are you saying you hot melt the canopy to a foam frame that attaches to the plane?

Maybe this will help. The canopy will go onto another pc of foam. I just fit mine real close and it stays just fine. If you are worried you could use a small pc of velcro or a rubber band on the inside and turn the main pc 90 degerees to install the battery. I can take more pics if you need them.

Thanks! I think I will do it like you are showing but just add a stick to the front so it latches in so it can't blow off. These Depron wings seem rather fragile. Do you think glassing the wing would be a good idea?

Naw, you won't have any problem. I can pick up the whole plane by the wingtip. The only time my canopy hatch has come off is when I stop flying by using the earth as a brake[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]
