Default No More Flatouts!

Ok im sick of those flatouts[:@] , they just dont stand up to my style of flying. What is a good (semi cheap) foamy that will take an abuse and fly good with 18 oz of thrust. Also i would like a somewhat simple build .

Thanks, Stick 40

ha another flatout hater they really are a terrible airplane that hinge system although unique is totally useless not to mention the hinge clips break if you look at them wrong. Anyway on to the question if you want a good cheap 3D foamy look at the thunder tiger models there are only 3 to choose from but they are about 10 times more durable i have two but have been flying the giles 202 for over a year and a half now with a few majour crashes with no damage at all the plastic skin they use makes the depron very tough they also come with a motor and gearbox for around 30 bucks i have never had a problem with mine the christian eagle is still in its box i haven't had a need to build it and i've flown quite a few foamy's and so far have found these to be the best bargain and the strongest assembly is a snap i can have the entire model in the air in under 2 hours theres no laminating to do at all the airlerons come pre hinged all in all they have a great product check em out

Stick40,

I have had good luck with the 3DFoamy's. I have two. One of them is using the electrics from a destroyed Flatout... And it weighs 15oz's..

Good Luck,

Are the 3Dfoamies hard to build?

Not at all there are plent of threads here in the foamy sections that have scratch builds in them. There are also plenty of sites on the web that have plans..

Above is a shot of my 3DFoamy SU26.

My son's CAP232 is powered by a Flatout gearbox and a Hacker E37 3700 brushless with a Thundird ESC. The battery is a TP 730mah. So far plenty of punchout from hover!

One more thing, how much abuse will the 3D Foamy SU-26 take Hibrass?

The 3D foamy will hold up well if you "Fly it to the Crash."... But they can only take so much if you lose total control and plow them in... But they hold up well to hover mistakes flat spin errors and such. My sons Cap has been smashed pretty hard at least 10 times and is still flying strong.. (It's starting to look a little shabby though.. lol.)

Good Luck,

Hibrass

Are all of these foamies Depron? If we have problems with the hinges, couldnt we just tape them? I was thinking of getting some sheets and re-creating my Flatana (or getting creative). I dont know if it was any cheaper to do this or just buy the kits?

Hmm, if you're looking for a good 3D foamie, then I would suggest a Charger R/C CR-1 Pro. It is super easy to buld, as it has notched parts, and it includes really good tape, that is holding up well, sofar. It was completed in about an hour for the plane, then another hour for the rest of it. Hovering is excellent with it too, as well as just about all of the 3D maneuvers in the book. And not to mention it's a bargain at 40 bucks.

I really don't like flatouts at all. Yesterday I crashed my Reflection and even though it is reparaible I would rather dump it in the trash can than try to fix it. It is absolutly impossible to design something more complex for a foamy than the flatouts, bad engineering from the beggining if you ask me.
I am looking for a new plane and was wondering what is the maximum weight that the Rimfire motor (22-1000) can handle with good 3D performance. I bought the 12 Amp ESC instead of the recommended 8 Amp thinking about getting something bigger in the future. I however have the 640 Mah 3 cell batteries [&o].
I was thinking about this plane:

Too small? What do you guys think?

I have that bird... And it is a great flyer... (You can see a pic in my Gallery.) I'm using a Chinesse knock off A20 20L with a CC 25 ESC and TP1320. Total weight 15oz... A real winner! Your electrionics should work but may have a limited vertical... Your not out something for trying.

Sorry Hibrass, I made a mistake, I was considering this plane that is a little bit smaller?:

The profiles from Fancy foam at 13 Oz look very good too:

What do you think, Which one is better for the Rimfire,

andresAM,

I haven't flown the Fancy Foam but it has a good rep...

Either way it looks like you would have a winner!

Good Luck,
