Here are some pics now of the power system. I do have questions though. First what is the best way to get the motor and the ESC connected. Also which is the best way or could you give me a link to the connections I need to add to the ESC for the motor and the battery?

I know probably a stupid question but I am again electrics stupid.

Thanks again.

Looks like all you need is a male dean's connector and you are all set. From your pictures the motor has the ends you need to put on the ESC (pull off the small gold thing's on the end of the motor wires and solder them to the ESC and use shrink wrap on them). The attached picture is what you will need and what it looks like when completed. If you havent soldered before practice before you do them as a poor solder joint will fry the motor & ESC and possibly the battery.

Wow where was I on that one. I did not know that the gold peice came off. Well I soldered them on and now I have no clue as to which wire connects to which plug. On my ESC they are all black and the motor has red, yellow, and black.

Also I am going to go to the hobby shop tomorrow to get a deans connector.

Just go to wait for the hobby city order to get here to charge that batts.

Thanks again guys.

once you get your other stuff like a battery charger plug the wires in with the ESC # side facing up with the motor and prop as it should be, 99% of the time its correct, if its not, then switch the 2 OUTSIDE plugs and it should work good[8D]

Ok I will try to figure out which side is up because it is not marked. Worst case is it safe to connect the middle wire of the motor to the middle ESC wire. Also if they are backwards will it hurt anything or will it just be in reverse.

yes, middle wire allways goes to the middle wire on the ESC, other than that its prety simple, if its reversed, reverse the two outer wires, just currious how you are cutting the foam, an x-acto knife or a hotwire?

Well I got around to testing the motor and ESC and everything works great. That little motor has some power. Honestly I never knew these little electrics would be this much fun.

However I am still not ready to fly this Extra due to messing around with another project.

I got a little Slow Stick to teach my son. It only cost me 20.00 brand new from Horizon Hobby. I got the motor and ESC from hobby city. It is done and I will try to get a mintue to post pictures later. So now I just need to get another micro receiver and finish the Extra up. By the way have ant of you ever tried any of those knock off ebay receiver specials?

Also what is the best linkage or ways to mount micro servos to the control surfaces. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks again. Mark

some us micro pushrods, some use piano wire 'joints" (aka things at horns) and carbon for the rest, i am going with micro pushrods on my super small 3D, with your power combo, im thinking maybe piano wire would do the trick [8D]
