The website link in my last message should have all the answers to your questions. But $17 is for both motor and gearbox and the prop is a GWS 10x4.7. Check my previous posts for more info.

I only have experience with the Eagle and it flies well in breezes up to 10 mph (16 kph) but after that I have trouble controlling it. But I only have 1 year of RC experience and a more experienced flyer might do somewhat better. It's windy where I live and I'm planning to get a 3 to 5 lb electric plane to be able to handle our 20 to 25 kph winds.

You should search Greg Covey's posts and articles comparing the Cobra vs Eagle.

As I said in my first reply, it won't quite hover with that drive system.

You are missing out on a HUGE amount of information on the Cobra and Eagle in this website by not using the search engine to its fullest. Go to "Search", enter "Potensky" and "All Forums" and review the Potensky-related postings for the last 2 years. You'll be amazed at the information available for just these 2 planes.

As I've told you everything I can, I strongly suggest that using RCU's search capability is your next step.

In response to mounting your new Christmas present....remove the round mounting plate from the back of the motor and attach it to the firewall of your plane with screws. Then insert motor into mount and tighten set screw. That's all there is to it. Have fun

The EPP can be glued in a rapid way: use slow CA, fit the parts and add kicker. Don`t use CA on the depron!
The iron-on filmstrips for hinges will stick to the wing if you put on some Balsarite and let it dry before ironing.
A PJS won`t suit the nose of the plane, it is just too big. But it`s a nice motor I fly mine with a MotorMax 400XT on 2S1200 LiPo`s, never thought of using a brushed motor anytime more...
Changing flaperon-settings during flight don`t make any big changes in behavior. This is not a "slow"-flyer, big throws and a good engine make this a chase. But it looks nice on floats, have to get some

Would a Himax 2812-850 using 3cell 1200mah be ok for the Cobra or would it overkill using the 3 cell pack? I use this set up on my depron foamy and it has tons of power.

thanks

After forever, I got a brushless/lipo setup. Im usin the cheap Bp-21 and align 17amp esc, for 40 bucks shipped. and a 1100mah 2s lipo. I love it, this is the first time Ive had anything with more power than needed to fly, and going straight up for takeoff is a hell of an excitement .

i had failed to notice exactly how small this plane is, a 3 cell 2100mah 145g may be a bit much... looks like i'll have to choose between a 2 cell 2100 or a 3 cell 1500 and prop accordingly to the cell configuration.

just out of curiosity though, is anyone using a 2100 3 cell on this plane?

nope. Are you using a brushless? if not, check out aero-nuts.com and get the combo I have. I have unlimited vertical with a 2s 1100 lipo, and plan to get a 3s for insanity. this is definitely the way to go, cheaply.

good luck

i have a rimfire outrunner motor. i'll probably not listen to any advice and just get a 3 cell 1320 tp pack, it comes in 20g lighter than a recomended 2s 2100, has more power than needed to provide over 2:1 thrust:weight ratio if i want to or low amp draw and long flight times if i downprop a little. My next plane after this one is a mini funtana, or a hydro foamy if it's out by then.
