What Kind of Foam to Carve

I am planning to carve an XB-70 from foam. Years ago all we had to use was foam from the lumber yard. Now I see several kinds(EPP,EPS etc)of foam for modeling. What type is the best for shaping? I can't find any modeling foam in blocks but I did find some foam in thick sheets. I suppose I could glue several sheets together and go from there. Any recommendations as to foam type and supplier? Thanks.

A little late but. The old insulation foam still works well but if you want bigger stuff you might try a marina where they use large styrofoam bocks for floating docks. I still have a block that is 2ft. by 4 ft. by 6 in. thick.

The denser foams are easier to work with but they are heavier. All depends on your needs. EPS is the lightest and can be cut and shaped with a variety of tools. It is soft though and needs seinforcement. Many people use depron for the structure and fill in with EPS. You should test out a few of the locally available foams. RCFOAM has a density chart on their website.
