IB is totally killing this site. I tried to watch a video but only the left half was visible due to the ad taking up the other 1/2 area in the posting space.

I understand you need to monetize to run a site and have a profit but when it grossly spills over to damage content then you " crossed the line"

I came back to RCU for a visit to see if things improved, left because of all the problems, they seem just as bad, if not worse. Just tried visiting the Pattern section every time I try to read a post, I get knocked down the page so the pop up video from Toyota can load and play. Sorry, but I'm on my lunch break and my time is not going to be taken up by a bunch of pop up BS.

I have not seen this ad. Can you post a shot of it?

People using a laptop or desktop are not having that issue at all.

I am going to see what tech says about changing the ad for when people are viewing the site on mobile.

Anyone who doesn't have their browser maximized will see the site that way. Guess what? Most people don't have their browser maximized on their laptop and PCs. I see it the same way on my laptop and desktop. This is a seriously easy fix. Just as a line break after the post. It's so easy to fix that's it's obvious to us software guys that your "tech" just doesn't give a sh**.

I have already moved on from this and not by installing any additional software on my two different laptops used in two different locations and two different internet providers.
Something here has changed. If the IT staff isn't aware of the problem they are either incompetent or are simply lying.

My post was removed because I was too honest. The forums are horrible because of the ads. They are ruining was used to be a great site and they are going to lose many users if they don't fix it.

If you have something specific and constructive to offer, please do. A screen shot with a description of the issue you're having, perhaps?

Otherwise, you can stop posting. This is a tech support forum.

Paul,
i would expect people like you guys are intelligent enough to comprehend what has been stated MANY times in this thread.

GET RID OF THE AD INSIDE OF THE POST!

put it between posts or to the side of the message box, ANYWHERE but inside of the message box is better than its current placement.

If you think I haven't heard that suggestion by now, you're mistaken. Not going to happen. We're working to fix the issues it creates instead, thank you.

Then why not position the ad at the bottom of the post at the footer so it is below the text and any attachments in the post ? Viewers will still see the ad as they finish reading through the post going on to the next post but it will stop compressing the text and attachments disrupting the post ,as it does now.
Problem solved !

Personally I think that's a fine idea!

Unfortunately... I have nothing to do with the decision of how to fix it, or doing the actual fixing...

This is an excellent example of what we're complaining about when the ad gets inserted into the post, not only can't the video be watched on RCU, but you can't get to the button to click over to youtube and watch it there either.

I did not see this tread before adding my own (pop ups). I also thought I was the only one having this problem. I am logged in when this happens. I love using RCU, but I must admit it has reduced my time on this sight. I think it would be in the best interest of all concerned for RCU to solve this problem. Good luck RCU.

I can play and got to YT fine from that link. If you are using a handheld device with a tiny screen you may have a problem with this though.

The issue is resolved on our end -- we made the video window and ad smaller, so they take up less space and can be played on regular resolutions screens.

This is not normal on any forum.
This squished post continues way, way, way down the screen.

And this is a laptop, not a phone, not a I-pad, or anything else other than a laptop.

Where's the right-hand side of the screen shot?

Really?
I took that picture with my I phone.
Where the right side of the screen shot is, has very little to do with anything.

Unsubscribed.
