Photo Errors
Hi everyone,
So we believe that besides some uploading issues stemming from iPad (which is on iPad's end), we've stopped all the photo problems that came with the switch to the new software. Are there any outstanding issues with photos on RCU?

Well THIS is still a problem in the Gallery.
Comes up with this error message, when none of it applies: "There was an error posting your image. Check the size and make sure it's not overly large (e.g. 1.2Mb or more). Also, make sure it is the correct file type. Many times, a file may say ".jpg" when it is some proprietary file type from your camera or software incorrectly saved with the "jpg" extension. To be sure, just open the file in a program and when you save the file make sure you are saving it in jpg format."

Viewing Photo's is a much bigger problem, in most attempts they just don't load. RCU was always slower (on my PC) than other forums but has now become almost unusable. Don't have this problem with other Forums.

Agreed. I have been a member here over 10 years; this is the worst the forum has ever operated. They "upgrade" the software and it literally takes 6 months to a year to get it all fixed and relatively bug-free. The site does load quicker, but that's meaningless when the functionality of the forum in general sucks. Sorry Internet Brands, but you're shooting yourself in the foot here. I can't stand RCGroups - I hate their business model. The forum sucks. BUT it always loads, everything works, and their photo upload feature for forum posts is fantastic. This forum doesn't get half the traffic it used to, and that will probably be lessened if they can't get some simple features fixed. Seriously - who uses a forum software so full of bugs? Using the membership of the forum as beta testers is totally bogus in case you (forum management) didn't know it.

When posting things "don't work" or load in general, can you please give your operating system and version and browser/version? I am looking into the PhotoBucket problem, as well as other photo-sharing services.

For me it doesn't matter what device I use to access the site. My laptop running windows 7 and latest version of Firefox, Chrome, or even the ever worthless Internet Explorer. My iPhone 7 is what I typically use; iOS 10.3.2 (most recent version). And FWIW - the "mobile" part of the site does not work nearly as well as the "full site" option.
If the admins used the forum like the users do, they would find the problems the beta testers are (the users) finding and we wouldn't have to explain everything so explicitly.

Actually I get the following:
" The file you tried to upload is either NOT a jpg or gif file OR it is way too large. Sometimes, files can say ".jpg" at the end, but they are really "bmp" files. Just open your file in your image editor software and save it as a ".jpg". Then try again.
You may also wish to try reducing the size of your image (say, to 800 x 600 max) before uploading again.
Try Again"

Yup. Photos in posts aren't visible half the time either. I looked at a thread the other day that had 7 photos in it and only 3 would be visible. Black screen for the other 4.

I was able to view photos 5 and 6 on that post when I enlarged the and scrolled through with the arrows. Photo 6 did not display as a thumbnail, however.

That may work on a PC/Mac, but that doesn't work on mobile devices. Trying to enlarge the photos on a mobile device actually causes the photo viewer window to close. At least for me - using an iPhone 7 and iOS 10.3.3. I rarely use a computer to access the site.

The full website/desktop skin works best and is what I normally use - which is also why I raised such a stink about the forum collapse feature still being inoperative. It's a bit frustrating.

My Feedback: (6)
Some photos still intermittently squished when expanded. Check http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-jets-120/11640434-t-3-pics-build-2.html#&gid=1&pid=23. Thumbnails on post #11 of that thread for example.
