Default What does "awaiting approval" mean

I'm noticing that a prominent posters replies keep coming up as "awaiting approval". Is this what happens when you make the moderators mad?

Have I said, by the way, that I love RCU.

Don't ask... the moderators will just close the thread if someone trys to explain.

(if they will let you see this post...)

I was going to ask this same question. I remember an explaination after RCU made the change, but I cannot locate that thread. I think it is kinda annoying to have to see it. And kinda degrading to the poster. It is like walking around with a big sign that says "I'm a habitual offender and I'm wainting for an ok from the police to let me go pee".

What other kinds of suggestions can we make for a phrase that would be kinder than "awaiting approval"?

How about: "Out to lunch and I might be back"? or..." The men in black suits driving a Dodge are here to see me".

any others?

It means that the person in question is having his posted reviewed by the moderators before the rest of us can view them.

As I understand its done as a disiplinary action????[X(]

My only question is why would you bother posting at all after having this done to you???

How long does it goes on for ? I don't know maybe one of the moderators will answer that?

You do have to give him credit for being a presistent bugger

I don't run. I don't hide. If I stop posting... the person I feel is the real offender wins by default.

I tried to post my side... it was S#%^ canned.

It goes on (the moderated status) until the moderators decide there is no need for it... or they ban the "offender"

From the PM's I am recieving... they ban me... they may lose 1/2 the board's members. My PM box may soon be saying it can't accept more due to space limit.

**************

BTW... I'm still actively posting helpful hints in beginner's forum. My gripe is not against the beginners that want help.

Good. It's about time that there was a price to be paid for being a habitual offender.

It's not really a disciplinary action per se .... typically it is used when someone has been repeatedly warned that their posts are inappropriate (for whatever reason - vulgarity / antisocial / bashing / pushing product), but they ignore the mod's warnings and keep right on doing whatever it was they they were told not to. It used to be that the only option with such people was to ban then for a while, but then Marc added this new mode in which the person could still post but that a mod had to "approve" each post before the public could see it.

As to how long it goes on ... depends on the behavior of the person in question. Anyone who gets his act together and learns from his mistakes, will typically have only a short period of having his posts require approval ; anyone who refuses to learn from the experience can expect to either have a long approval period, or have further action taken - such as being banned altogether.

Default [Awaiting Approval]

Basically, it is when the [Awaiting Approval] can't keep [Awaiting Approval] and the mods have to [Awaiting Approval] to keep the [Awaiting Approval] from [Awaiting Approval] themselves.

Only a very few can put a members post on "Moderated" Status. (Marc, Art, and Nathan are the only one's that I KNOW can do it, but they will take suggestions from the Mods)

ANY moderator of that forum which the person has posted to (or any Community Moderator) may approve the post

Hiding from the issue does not solve it. Sorry Art.

**************

Some will wonder what the heck is going on with my sig line, and many have PM'd me about my being on the "Awaiting approval " list.

I've gotten 100% supportive PM's from anyone EXCEPT 2 moderators... (and some supporting PM's from Moderators...) And one of the ones that wasn't 100% supportive... wasn't trying to be unfair (untill "convinced" by J_R supporters into NOT following through on:

You put J_R on your ignore list but yet you came back in my thread and went at him again and now you are on moderated status along with J_R!

where are we going and why am I in this hand basket?

This is my opinion and not RCU's, or the managements!!!!

But none of my supporters really know who to contact... (oops... now they do. )

I probably did earn the "Awaiting approval" listing. I'D DO IT AGAIN.

Tact is not my strong suit. When attacked... I respond. Annoy me enough... I'll get quitte colorful.

The battle is in the clubouse and the AMA forums.

Read it all... its a mess. They are NOT in the correct order... chronological order would help... but they jump from thread to thread.

there's more... most are linked in these... (read the WHOLE thread on each....)

A small, twisted part of me misses being able to read those!

From a mod's point of view, it's a great tool. RCU rarely puts that on anyone, and when it's done it's done with a lot of thought and deliberation. The moderating here is much more even-handed than some would think.

FFHuber, just take a break, man. A website shouldn't be so all-consuming that you can't step back from it for a short time. Believe me, after a break things can look a lot different.

That's just plain dumb. Your pride an inability to say "hey, I screwed up" is just going to provide people with entertainment at your expense. Why take something you obviously enjoy and destroy your access to it out of spite?

if you read what I posted... you will see that I was willing to accept the moderated status... If done fairly...

the J_R cronies deciede they didn't have to be fair... that personal attacks on me were OK.

THAT is when I went to war.
