Default How to: Post Pictures

Since many users are unaware of how to post pictures, here is a easy how-to guide on getting your snapshots in your posts.

There are two ways to accomplish this task, we will discuss the built in upload feature first.

1. Hit the Post Reply button on the bottom of the thread.

2. Next, hit the Click Here to Upload Images and Files button.

3. Now, hit the Browse button.

4. Next, we will select the photo for upload, I'll use a picture of my mini-lst in this example. After you have found your photo just select Open to place the photo in your upload box. (Repeat this as many times as necessary depending on how many pictures you want to insert.)

5. It should now look very similar to this.

6. Finally, just hit Ok to place the photo in your post.

Now I will show you how to put pictures in your post without having to click on them to bring up the full image.

1. Head over to [link=http://www.imageshack.us]www.imageshack.us[/link] , this is where we will begin.

2. Hit Browse to begin.

3. Now, we will find the picture to upload, I will be using the same photo. Simply select your photo and click Open. ( Be sure to have the "Resize Image" box checked, and set at 640x480 if you are using a large photo)

4. Now, just hit Host It to upload your photo.

5. The next screen should have an array of links, don't worry though, we only need one. Choose the link titled Direct Link to Image and copy it. (Ctrl C / Edit Copy)

6. Now jet back to RCUniverse, we have some pictures to post! In the reply box hit Image. Your screen should then look like this.

7. Now, place your cursor between the "] [" (last and beginning bracket on the image tag.) Click so that your text bar is flashing, and paste your image link. Finally hit Ok to submit your post (don't do so until your done with your text.)

Hope you all enjoy,

That's awesome. Thank you for such a complete guide, and I know it will see plenty of use. It should be made a sticky, too.

You are now the king of the screen cap

Inverted,
Very nice. I believe that's the most comprehensive, easy to understand tutorial on image posting that I've seen on any website or fourm in the last 7 years.
Very well done indeed.

Appreciate the kind replies RCX and Dave. I wanted to make it as easy as possible as I have noticed when someone asks how to post pictures the reply is usually missing a step ot two. I just wanted to make a guide that was pretty much impossible to not understand.

I get an immediate error message when I go to step two in the above example. Not even a whole second after going to upload picture step.

Says Runtime out. Error on line 850, URL Buddy.

Is there something I am doing incorrectly now. For have posted pictures in past and had no problems.

I need to know what server you are on. please click Community button at top of any page. then go to very bottom and read text there and lmk if RCU1, RCU2, RCU3 or RCU4 server. I will reboot that one and it will likely fix it. we have had no code changes so it is likely a memory leak on that box

INVERTED;

Picture this. You are so old that when born, TV was not yet invented. Your first computer lesson is when they brougnt it into my office, showed me the on button and left. Computer learning restricted to specific job related work, the computer guys designed me all sorts of shortcuts simply out of self prevision. My first home computer was a mid range Dell, and it filled the need well with its in-house programs. Now comes the high end HP "media center" thinking all this new stuff mest be much easier to learn. After all, my 5 year old grandchild who can not read yet uses his HP PF keys to navagate. Crips, I just learned how to spell navagage with the assistance of "spell check". Want to post some pictures with the new system, wow, whats all this stuff, oh oh, HP does not use Adobe programming, everything is much more complicated. For the past week or so I have been looking for some reasonable guidance adaquate for a true computer dummy. Here you are, your help is much appreciated, and I can actually make things work (for a change) ENJOY

Good morning,

I am having the same problem with uploading pics as said above this comment. I get an error saving file to disk message. I am using the RCU2 server. Do you also need the server # behind that too?

Thank you for your support in advane.
