Ruby Autopilot by Uthere
I just had my first flight with an autopilot, and it was great. I installed Ruby by Uthere into an old Hobbyzone Super Cub. It is a simple three-channel trainer with a 48" wingspan that I wanted to train students with. later I want to get into FPV. Ruby seemed like the perfect autopilot.
The install was straight forward, and installing the pitot sensor in a foam wing is simple. Ruby plugs together quickly, and I had great support from Uthere setting up the plane. In aided-flight mode, it was easy to steer around the sky while Ruby keeps constant altitude, speed, and straight flight unless I asked it to turn. This would be great for beginners and for FPV. Loiter and return to home worked great.
The auto land set up for a nice approach and touch down was with 10 yards of the home position.
Very cool!
