Default UAV search project, houston texas

Hi all.

I have a project for the UAV guys with onboard video here in and around the Houston, Texas area. I recently lost my RC helicopter in an area of abut 600 acres in the Katy area. What I'm wanting to do is do a pattern flyover in the area to see if it can be located. I've got a bad feeling that the heli has been picked up already but would like to try.

I'm sorry you lost your R/C heli. I have a question, though: how'd you manage to lose it over such a large area? I've never flown a RC heli myself and I'm in no position to fault your piloting skills, but don't you need to always have eyes on it?

First problem...shouldn't have been flying where I was. Though the area I was in is an appropriate size to fly....it's location wasn't ideal...about 300- 400 yards from the freeway behind a small strip mall.

go ahead and point towards my piloting skills...IT IS WHERE THE PROBLEM IS.

Flying in an area that is not ideal...about 300 yards from the freeway. But the immediate area I was in is about 100 yards by 300...plenty of room for a heli.

I'd go into details but I don't really need to as this was really my fault for 1 flying where I was. Two not landing immediately after the first time the heli nosed up and shot backwards. The wind at that height was about 20mph....flyable, which is why I didn't worry about it, but still should have landed as the winds weren't consistent and my skills aren't that great...I still get orientation loss which is how the bird ended up too far away the second time it nosed back.

SO, pilot error all the way here.

Anyway....I like to find the bird if I can. I know the bird itself is toast but the gyro (gy401) and esc phoenix 110 HV may be recoverable. Also, I was testing some custom carbon fiber struts for someone....I'd like to be able to report on them.

Got a couple million dollars for the real UAV folks to bring their equipment out? Before they arrive you're going to need to get with the FAA and obtain a COA for the search area.
I think you're stuck with leg work instead of a UAV search.

how much are the UAV??
I've seen this one asking for 25000, that is way out of my range.

1.) what do you want the UAV to do? A UAV for under a grand is doable....if you just want a small plane to fly a circuit around your property
