2 stroke oil

Hi guys, can you use 2 stroke oil from auto parts store?

JohnBuckner 03-25-2017 12:15 PM

That can only be properly answered if you state what type of engine you are proposing to use it in??

 Since I know of not one full scale aircraft beyond "Ultralights" that employ two stroke power , I don't believe the full scale aircraft section is the place for the guy to get his answer . The "gas engines" section further down on the frontpage would be where he could best be helped ......

solo0413, Yes you can. Welcome to the forum. I prefer to use Stihl HP Ultra (silver bottle) chainsaw oil from the hardware store and prepackaged in bottles for easy mixing one gallon of fuel at a time.

I currently use it in an OS 33GT, OS 15GT and DLE 20 and have used it no problems in the past in a G23, G62, Kalt 18 and an OS GT55.

John:)

init4fun I am well aware the gentleman posted in the wrong forum, a common mistake. However I choose to give him a direct answer to his first question right here rather than risk making him feel unwelcome in his very first post.

The only bad oil is the oil that you forget to put in the gas can...

Hey guys how about lucas 2 cycle oil 50:1?

Desertlakesflying 03-27-2017 02:20 PM

I use Lucas 2 stroke racing oil all the time and it is excellent. Also look at Redline 2 stroke Racing oil. Mix it to what your engine manufacturer recommends. I fly DLE and VVRC so mine is 32-1

Thanx

Having the mixture right is more important than what brand is used. Some engines prefer leaner mixtures, some rich.
