Reversed power on Futaba R6014HS Rx
I have managed to briefly have the 5v reversed connected, due to poor light i am sure the wires were reversed (they had slipped out of plug on my test pack [:@]) I had slid them back in the wrong way.
Has anyone done this and does anyone know if this Rx has (surface mount) diode protection across the power bus?
Any help would be appreciated
Alan

RE: Reversed power on Futaba R6014HS Rx
Hi Alan,
There is a diode inside to protect the receiver from reverse polarity. If this happened just briefly before you disconnected it, you may be okay. Have you tried the receiver to see if it still works?

RE: Reversed power on Futaba R6014HS Rx
Hi
Sorry did not say on original post that Rx appears to be dead.
Rx is not working no red LED. To be fair did not try it with servo as LED not lit.
If you mean the largest SM diode I did put my meter across it on diode check and still getting approx 0.5v across it, ie it is not shorted out.
With being a Diode across the bus surprised that it looks like it has caused damage etc as i was only using an old AA pack 4.8V that was not fully charged.
Will it be possible to repair? I know usually with SM PCB it means new PCB's etc I do work with electronics... thats what makes it worse![:@]

RE: Reversed power on Futaba R6014HS Rx
Hi again Alan,
Sorry it took me a little while to get back to you.
That receiver has two filters and a voltage regulator in the power supply circuit. One or all three may have been damaged due to reverse polarity and they are very inexpensive parts.
But of course we will not know for sure if other components have been effected unless we can examine them.
I understand that these were purchased from Tower, and while we can repair them for you, sorry, we can't cover reverse polarity under the warranty....
You're more than welcome to send them to us, we'll check them out for you and see what we can do.
Take care, Krysta

Krysta,
I am repairing a Rx with the same problem - can i buy the regulator + filters from you?
or if not, do you have part numbers for them which i can order somewhere else?
