Default Futaba R2004GF 2.4GHz FHSS Range

Does anyone know if Futaba's R2004GF and 4YF radio are a full range setup? Or is this intended to be used only with small foam park flyer airplanes?

I'm helping a friend of mine get into airplanes with a buddy box. He has a couple of 40 size nitro airplanes he has picked up used and has also purchased the 4YFradio. I looked through the manual and didn't see any information about it's range.

We noticed we could not bind my radio to it today so we could buddy box on it. Reading online this afternoon I found the two are not compatable.

I know it seems to be a limited system but I want to make sure we don't loose an airplane out of range if hedecides to keep it.

I'm some what suspicious that it's short range because the Tx only takes 4 AA batteries and the Rx only has one antanna.

The 4YF with the R2004GF receiver is indeed full range. You should not have any worries with this and his planes.

On the Futaba website, the R2004GF receiver is listed for use for park flyers (not full range).

What link are you using? When we check the receiver's tech notes on the website, we don't see any range limitation:

According to Futaba, the receiver is intended for Park Flyers, so it's of limited range. TherReceiver chart is at the bottom of this web page:

Yep, you got it right. Futaba lists it as a park flyer receiver on the chart. Sorry for our confusion. There are so many items and options we sometimes can't keep them all straight. We answer so many forum questions and emails that we don't always remember what was said even the day before! Sorry for the confusion.

I´ve been using R2004GF receivers with my Super Sporster 40 and my Smith Miniplane with no issues so far. I like to climb my planes very high. Should I be worried?

If you've had success with the way you're flying, you should be OK to continue, just don't overdo it. You may be flirting at the edged of your systems control range.

Can someone tell if R2004GF is compatible with 10J transmitter?

It is not. It's a surface receiver and won't work with the aircraft transmitters.
