Futaba 7CAP
Hi everyone:
I have this radio ever since it came out long ago...
Question i have recently i noticed that my LCD display starts to fade away after 3-4 min in flight and will not return if it return after i land and have the radio off for about 5-10 minutes..
I though it was the battery and took the one out of my brand new 2.4ghz 7CAP and tried it out and got the same result...
What's causing this? Do i need to send it to someone to get it fixed and how much would it be?
The radio doesn't glitch or anythign just the screen starts to fade away till its utterly blank..
Also i heard some people in the club saying that they're installing li-po batteries on these radios, how is it done and doesn't that burn out the radio? I do have a turnigy 11.1v 2300 lipo laying around i'm not using could i use it on my 7cap radios i have?

RE: Futaba 7CAP
Very likely the display needs to be changed, if the display is the problem. It could also be something in the main board involving the driver chips for the display. If it's only the display, then repair may be under $60.00-$75.00. If it's something else, then the main board will need to be replaced, which will cost just about the same as the transmitter-only. There's no way to tell unless we have the opportunity to examine the transmitter.
As for battery replacement. Futaba recommends only using stock replacement battery packs. They have no recommendation on other types of battery packs, and you would use those at your own risk.
