Futaba BR-2000 battery checker

Futaba BR-2000 battery checker
I was digging through my stash of stuff and ran across this; forgot I had it. Its a neat little device, but my notes say it under-reads voltage a good bit.
I checked it against my Ace ESV, which is calibrated from a known power source so I know its right. The BR-2000 consistently shows less voltage on a given pack than the Ace unit. I have it set for a one amp draw. It shows almost a full volt less on several 4.8 packs.
I tried it on a fresh 6.0 pack; it showed 5.9 volts, but the background color on the screen was red for caution. I would like to use the thing (its a lot handier than the Ace unit) but I'm a bit leery of it.
What's the deal? Were these any good? I don't see it currently available.

It may need calibration. We can do that in the service center.
The Futaba BR-2000 battery checker came out in 2003, and was replaced with the BR-3000 battery checker in 2011. The BR-3000 battery checker can check 2-7 cell LiPO, LiFe, and Li-Ion packs; and 4-7 cell NiCd and NiMH packs.
