Default S3171 servo

Can the S3171 servo be used at voltages higher than 4.8V?

The Futaba web site doesn't list any torque for anything but 4.8V so it makes me suspicious that it can't be used above that.

Thanks
Kerry

I've been using the 3150/3155/3171 series on 6 volts for years. Now using LiFe packs at 6.6 volts. Not an issue. The Robbe site lists stats for 6 volts but for some reason the US version does not.

Use with confidence but don't stall them!!!

Usually, older servos were designed during the time when a 4-cell NiCd or NiMH battery pack was standard. Therefore, no measurements or data was given for other power sources. While you may be able to use 5-cell NiCd or NiMH battery packs, or equivalent-voltage packs, Futaba hasn't tested them for continuous use with other than the pack in the literature. Use higher-voltage packs and you're on your own.
