Default R617FS Receiver Question

I have a R617FS FASST Rx that has about 1" of the shorter antennae cut off. Will this really effect range? I'm using it in a foam glider. Would it be safe in a bigger gas plane?

Thanks

The bare wire at the end of the "antenna" is the ACTUAL ANTENNA! The black lead is only a coaxial cable to the antenna. If the bare wire part is missing, then you have NO antenna! You can either bare the center of the one that got cut off, but the best thing is to replace the entire coax and antenna.

Yes, the bare wire at the end (with about 1/8" of the insulated part) is what's missing. If I understand you correctly, I can strip the insulation off the end and I should be o.k.

Thanks

As long as it's the correct length. Make it match the other one that's not affected.

While both protocols use frequency hopping, FASST has a more robust error-checking protocol. It was developed from the protocols Futaba developed for their industrial radio control systems that control cranes and other types of heavy equipment.
