Default GY520 voltage

The manual of the GY520 clearly states that the maximum voltage is 6.0v. Is this limit true or can I use a 2S LiFe (6.7v fully charged)? If yes, why does the manual state this 6.0v limit?
Thanks

That gyro was designed to accept the voltage from a 5-cell NiCd or NiMH battery pack. A 2S lithium battery pack will give too much voltage.
