Default Futaba 18MZ telemetry update.

[h=2]Futaba 18MZ telemetry update.[/h]
Hi guys,

Have I missed an update on my 18MZ to improve the terrible telemetry situation with the 18MZ or am I just not setting it up properly? I am referring to the units that are displayed on the screen and the fact that we cannot change them to what we need.

I am using telemetry that gives me 'fuel remaining' and I have to use rpm as the unit of display and even worse as my audible warning for it...crazy.

Cheers,

Jan

Since Futaba doesn't have a fuel gauge sensor, their has been no programming developed for it. The non-Futaba vendor of those devices uses what the transmitter can display.

Bax,

Exactly my point - maybe Futaba should recognise this need of modellers and give them/us the option to display and listen in/to the correct units/message. Many guys that I fly with are changing to other radio systems specifically because of this problem....It is terrible to have you transmitter warning going... 'low rpm, low rpm, low rpm' when it is suppose to be 'low fuel, low fuel'.....etc

Cheers,

Jan

This is not a place for discussions. We have noted that people have a desire for a fuel gauge, and that has been passed on to Futaba for their consideration.

Hi Bax,

I need a little help here in the UK. The 18MZ friction ratchet uses a replaceable white plastic piece for the spring strip to slide against. I want to purchase a few of these parts but Ripmax the UK importer tell me that to order these from Futaba will take 6 months.

Is there any way to obtain say 6 of these parts quickly? Is there any inventory of these parts in the U.S. or anywhere else I might access?

Thanks,
Malcolm

Does anyone know when Futaba will release the next update that fixes the bugs from the December 24th last update?

We'll know if/when an update is available only when Futaba announces the release. They don't talk about what they're doing until they're ready to make a release.

Sorry to have hijacked this thread posted here instead of a new thread by accident!

Bax, no I don't know the part number and it isn't listed on the most commonly asked for spare parts list on the Futaba website. Is there a full parts list or exploded view I could look at to get the part no?

Kind regards,

Malcolm

Hi Bax,

Any luck for a link to an 18MZ exploded view or parts list?

Kind regards,
Malcolm

Parts lists and exploded views are not available. The part you need is:

HSP82570 1M10A21501 ST-57 BRAKE BOARD US$0.48

They can be ordered from us. Unfortunately, basic shipping to the U.K. would be US$9.99 for international air post.

That's fine I'll take 10 pieces and shipping is fine too.

Have emailed you on your hobbico address to give you my shipping details and for you to advise payment method.

Thanks
Malcolm

Just got my 18MZ 2 days ago--Want to connect the Futaba Optical RPM sensor and the Futaba Temperature Sensor through a 'Y' harness to the S-Bus 2 port of my R7008SB Primary Rx--
Do I simply plug in everything and RPM/Temp will start to display?
The Sensor Menu/Page has a vacant field for the "Sensor ID" -- The Optical RPM sensor has an ID 004-5440 --- However the Tx does not accept numbers beginning with "Zero"

I have connected the Futaba SBS-01 RO Optical RPM Sensor to the S Bus 2 port of my R 7008SB Rx and my 18 MZ Transmitter is displaying that this Sensor is Connected---However the Tx Display reads " RPM MAGNET SENSOR" whereas this is an Optical one. I remember reading somewhere that for the Magnetic Sensor a Gear Ratio is applicable and for the Optical Sensor the number of Fan Blades have to be indicated. How does one do this.
