Default 18SZ Switch change

I've got one of the new radios backordered and since they're supposed to be here shortly, I'm wondering if Tower can send over to you guys and I'd like the momentary "trainer" switch replaced with a long two position switch? I did this to my 18MZ but that was easy for me. I'd like it changed as if that switch is on the top left rear, that's my gear switch. If it's on the top right rear, that's my kill switch. Then have you guys ship it out to me?

It's that way on all my models and radios and I'm 'getting too old to learn something new especially for those two rather critical functions.....

We've not gotten any definitive answer, but if Futaba carries through what they've done in the past, then the "airplane" versions will have the spring switch at the left rear, and the "heli" versions will have it at the right rear.

On my desk, I have a, 8FG, a 12FG, a 12Z, a 14MZ, and an 18MZ. Two are "heli" and three are "airplane". They are configured as I stated above.

If you order from your dealer and make your wish known, we can likely swap the switch before the transmitter's shipped from here. Have your dealer talk to their GP rep.

Well that was my original plan as I thought the tx would be coming out of Champaign, but according to CS it's coming from Reno. When it shows up, I call about getting it done.

When I emailed Futaba last week I was told that the momentary switch was in the same position for both heli and air. Anybody know for sure? I asked in another thread and so far the airplane version seems to have the momentary switch at the right rear position.

We just got our 18SZ transmitter, and it's the air version. Momentary switch is at the right-back on top of the transmitter, so that's settled.

Okay I just got the notice that my 18SZ will ship from Champaign contrary to what I was told earlier. Would it be possible to send it to the service center, change out that switch and then ship it to me?

If it can be caught before it ships, it can be sent across town to the service center to have the switch changed.

I called Tower this morning right after I called you guys. The young man did some checking and came back saying it was in the warehouse and they should be able to cancel the shipment to me and send it over to you guys.

Thanks for your help.
