I have been a long time Futaba user and have a collection of Futaba dual conversion crystals. Just recently I have purchased a R146iP mini PCM receiver which is perfect for my application. But spec says this is a single conversion receiver, requiring a single conversion crystal. I treid a dual conversion crystal and it works fine on the bench. But I don't want to risk the model due to side effects while in the air.

Can this receiver work with Futaba dual conversion cryatsls?

Is the model worth more than the 12 dollars it will cost to purchase the correct crystal?

Yes, except I'd have to pay $7.99 shipping for a $8 crystal and takes 1 week to get to me.

It will work fine.

But if you were to put a single conversion crystal into a dual conversion reciever it wouldn't.

For proper operation, you need to use the Futaba FM SHORT crystal.

For North America:

FUTL62** FRC511 FM RX XTL SHORT LO
FUTL63** FRC538 FM RX XTL SHORT HI

You'll need to specify the channel number.
