6XAs transmitter failure
Hi,
I have Futaba 6XAs transmitter, which seem to be damaged by heat. Last week I have forgotten to put it to shadow (outdooor temperature was about 35 ºC (98 º Fahrenheit)) and after aprox. 1 hour, when I turned it on all servos were glithiching crazily.
I left it in shadow for 15 minutes and tried again. There was no glitching, but when I opened fully carburetor ... elevator and left aileron went slowly up till the maximum incidence. (???????)
I am sure there was no interference.
I know that I should send it to the service center, but I expect that if I send it there (attention: it is Spain), they will return it to me several weeks later with comment than no failure has appeared. (the transmitter works OK untill it is pretty hot, and I do not think they will simulate the failure by heating it)
WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THAT MY TRANSMITTER HAS?
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN SOMENTHING LIKE THIS?
If you can predict which componet is damaged, I will send it to the service center. Otherwise I will consider buying new transmitter.
Regards,
Marian

RE: 6XAs transmitter failure
While heat can most certainly cause equipment failure, 35 C should not cause a problem. If your transmitter is in direct sunlight, then it's possible the internal components became heated to quite a bit higher, but they should still not fail. It sounds like your transmitter may have some marginal components that are reacting badly to temperature change. It should be sent to your regional service center to be checked and repaired.
