Default very dissapointed, Futaba can't fix my 9zapWC1

Well my radio came back from Japan yesterday with the breif service description "Initial Model, can't repair" Anyone here from Futaba know what this might mean, I'm kinda peeved as I paid alot of money for this radio and now futaba are telling me they can't fix it???? So if you have an old futaba radio you just bin it??? it's helped me make my decion on what brand not to buy now for my next radio just incase it needs a service down the track.

The fault was whenever elevator was applied right rudder would kick in across all model memories in the radio. I had figured that maybe a pot had worn but I guess I will never know.

Hi Jeremy_D,

Unfortunately, I am not sure what Japan means by this description.

We here at the Futaba Service center do still carry parts for and service the complete 9Z series of radios and will do so for a quite a few years until parts are no longer available.

I understand that shipping costs may be a factor for you, but we would be happy to service your radio if you would like to send it in to us.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support team at 217-398-8970 opt 2, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

Sincerely,
Krysta Hunt

Thanks Krysta,

I'll give it some thought, the shipping over here is the killer. Apparently it means the model is to old... From what I can gather the pot has worn out and that is why it kicks in right rudder everytime you apply up elevator..prob something to do with my days of ply pattern...[&:] Anyway I'll give it some thought. Thanks for the reply.

Cheers

Jeremy.

Most companies here in Japan have a 8 year limit for servicing their equipment. I too had the same problem sending my first 9ZAP to futaba here in Japan, I sent mine to Radio South, they fixed it no problem.
