We'd not know why it couldn't be used. You'll have to perform proper range checks, as you do with any model, and make sure the receiver antennas are properly-exposed to the transmitter. When a receiver is low to the ground, the range will always be less than something that is higher, such as a model airplane. Even a model boat on a wooden table will see more range than one on the water.
