Default 9Z with Spektrum modules

Hello,
I am planning to upgrade my 9Z with Spektrum modules.
I found at the Spektrum website the -DSM2 AIRMOD w/AR7000 FUT-Compatible - combo for $239.99.
Should I order the DSM2 AIRMOD with the AR9000 to be able to use the 9 channels of my 9Z?
Thank you for your help.
Daniel.

Default RE: 9Z with Spektrum modules

We are the Futaba Service Center, and have no experience with Spektrum equipment. We are unable to comment on that product. You may wish to discuss your concerns with that manufacturer.

If you wish to convert your Futaba 9Z transmitter to the 2.4 GHZ band, we highly-recommend the Futaba FASST system. You would want the Futaba TM-8 transmitter module and the R608FS receiver, or any of the other FASST receivers. The module plugs right into the transmitter and is guaranteed to be perfectly-compatible. There are no modifications to make, just install and use.

Regardless of the module you choose, you will be able to use only 8 channels, that's because the modules use the 8-channel PPM signal from the transmitter.
