Default FP-TP-FM vs. FP-Tk-FM Transmitter Modules

I fly on 50mz and have a question on modules. On the Tower site it stated that the TK module can be used in place of the TP module.
Is this OK?

When I called Hobby services the told me the TK module had a higher output??
The TP module id 400 to 500 milliwatts output..
The TK module is approx. 700 milliwatts output.
Is this all this correct information???????? I am using a 8UAF and 9CS A little more power output is good if its at the antenna.

Thanks for you Help JK

Default RE: FP-TP-FM vs. FP-Tk-FM Transmitter Modules

The TK modules are for the Futaba 9VA & 9VH, 9ZA/H P/W &S, 50 or 72MHz Transmitters, but can be used with the 5U-series 7U-series, 8U-series, 9C-series, and the NEW 10C TRANSMITTERS.

The difference in power output will not really affect your flying because the TP module, which is standard for the 9C-series transmitter, will give the transmitter more range than you can see to control the model.

Thank you for the reply. I know you can only see so far but the extra pwr. does have some side benefits, a 1/4 watt power boost
might help in some situations. Just did range checks with the TK module Quite a range ck boost.

Thank you again for your reply and thank Futaba for this forum.

If I have a channel 40 FP-TP-FM module can I just change out the crystal to a channel 50 and be okay. Some people say this is okay as long as I stay in the Hi band.

Thanks,
Shelby

It is not legal to change the crystal in a transmitter or transmitter module unless you are able to insure that the transmitter will then comply with the FCC specifications for output power and bandwidth.
