I've owned about a half dozen (probably more ) Futaba radios since the 1980s. Never seen a discount of $400. The 12FG 2.4 is 799.00 until 12/31/08. I've been thinking JR 12X or JR 9303 2.4 for my next radio because of the alleged 6014 RX heat issues and to avoid potential problems with voltage output as I use JR servos. So , the question begs -Is this radio on its way out for something newer/better from Futaba ?

I'm betting on the need to entice new customers (such as myself) who simply couldn't resist the price drop on top of the other coupons available. I'm hoping to get many years of use out of my 12FG and eventually move all of my models over to it, however I think the likelihood of any sort of product refresh announcement being posted here is close to nothing...

Time will of course tell.

The 12FG is on sale at Tower Hobbies. They put different items on sale from time-to-time at varying levels of discount. It may depend upon their stock levels. If they have too many pieces of an item, they will lower the price to move them out.

Because different sellers have sometimes offered the 12FG at deep discounts, a lot of rumors about the system have been generated. The 12FG is not being dropped by Futaba, nor are there any difficulties with the system. Check with your seller to see if the prices still hold.

800 bucks vs the original 1200 is a 400 dollar difference...........sorta unfair to those who got hit for the original price don't ya think?
