I've read several times that the 8FG has 8 proportional channels and 2 digital channels. I understand that the digital channels are just for on/off functions like lights or up/down retracts. But how would you actually use them with an 8-channel receiver, or do you need a bigger receiver? If the first eight channels are all taken up with flight controls, how do you physically hook up the retracts and lights?

You'll need the R6014HS receiver to use all ten channels of the 8FG transmitter. An 8-channel receiver won't do the job if you need all 10 functions the transmitter can control.
