Zenoah G62
Guys I have a G62 that I need some info on. The manifold between carb and engine(Plastic or phenolic) Is very long. Maybe 1.5 to 2 inches. Can I shorten this without hurting the running of the engine? I am aware of the pulse hole and might have to modify this.
Thanks

If it is the original one that does not turn the carb for easy linkage hook up, You can cut it down to ½” and it still work.
B and B sells one that is shorter but all it is one cut in half.

I make mine using three layers of 1/8 inch G10. the center layer has the pulse hole track from the carb hole to the engine hole. the outside layers have the bolt pattern respectively as required for the engine and carb. Epoxy the three layers together.

Quick G-62 question: I have an airplane that has a big enough cowl to use the big muffler that came with the engine. I have been using a slimline pitts muffler from the onset. What might I see with the original muffler? More power, quieter, etc.
Thanks in advance.

If you are talking about the twin exit, slanted muffler, I would say around the same rpm perhaps slightly less. The stock muffler is not that loud (ran it for less than a gal. on mine til it blew a hole through it near one of the exhaust bolts) and replaced it with a B&B side dump. Much louder but a lot more rpm too! The stock muffler's two tubes travel way up inside near the top of the muffler making it restrictive.

RE: Zenoah G62
Lifer in my tests I found the Zenoah muffler very quiet. Problem is it will cost you 500 to 600 rpm and it is heavy. Better off with something like a J Tec wrap around or side dump or one of Milton's side mufflers. Very light and no loss of rpm. He has them for sale in the ads section or on his website for a very good price. I believe they are about 40 bucks shipped.
