I dont see FPE. It would've been easier in alphabetical order.

Might be fun to break them down by type. DA clone, 3w clone, Sachs clone. Then break it down by original design. Oops, that would be an empty category.

RE: List of Chinese Engines
I got to agree with the person who said, most engines that are converted from chain saws ect....are better in qualitythanmost China built engines. But tend to weigh a little more. Capt,n

RE: List of Chinese Engines
Some more brands to the list : B&D engines (same as XYZ ? ) , TMM (next generation of 3MM) ,
And JBA make two gas engines not copied or cloned from any other brand (15 cc and 50cc) : Not an empty category [8D]
Regards

Not likely. Probably came from a chainsaw and leaf blower companies design. Perhaps someone finally copied Echo products? Or were the engines simply scaled down from something?

TOM : you're wrong, at least this time.

RE: List of Chinese Engines
Sorry mpascual but you are also not quite right
JBA (owned by the same owners as SK, Kangke, Tigershark, SuperKraft and a few other well known names) manufactures in the same factory as the Evolution Glow engines. A military armananets components factory.
The JBA 50cc Gasser - look closely at it inside and out then look at a Revolution 50cc - of course it could be because there is truth in the rumor that the owners of JBA also obtained the rights to the Revolution product
The JBA 15cc Gasser? - Well - look closely at the glow counterpart - plenty of similarities there too
Not saying they are dud engines because they are not by any means. - just that they did very little R&D of their own.
It will be intersting when Michael (the original "designer" of the JBA 15) releases his "own" new brand of 15cc / 17cc etc around the end of March[8D]
Lets face it, Even the most 100% made in house engines still use pretty much the same principles as the Chainsaw engines, Motorcycle engines and GoKart engines we started from. There really is very little that is new out there.

RE: List of Chinese Engines
According to the owners of ZJ-JN (The manufacturers of XYZ, TGY etc), they also make MT, DJ, B&D and TMM products.
The part I find interesting in that is there is a vast difference between the top end and the bottom end those particular brands !!!!

RE: List of Chinese Engines
But some have major things differentiating them
Red paint, blue anodising, black anodising, Gold paint, black paint etc - on crankcases and cylinders.
Then don't get me started on their packaging - plain brown boxes, foam filled and cut out (actually, I hve never seen an engine packed better than how SPE / MLD pack theirs) foam sheets, cable tied to sheets of cardboard.
Heck the list goes on and on on how different so many of them are

I don't agree with you.
I'm only saying JBA15 G and JBA 50G aren't clones of anything. You can think they have very little R&D .
Have tou seen , tried or own any JBA50G ? Let me know what chainsaw mount this engine type.
And about engines principles, ALL brands have the same principles.

RE: List of Chinese Engines
I personally think that these Chinese engine brands are doing themselves a disservice by having such vague and hard to differentiate names.
Another question is the carburettor design. Are they all copies of the Walbro design?
