RCEXL module Ht lead length
anyone ever extended an HT lead on an RCEXL ignition module? I would guess it is not a good idea, but looking for info from the experts...
many thanks

Nope. the spark would jump to the braid at the joint..Might possibly work if the braid was stripped back about an inch each way at the joint, and if there was no place for the spark to jump to ground....MAYBE..

Oops. We make our own here so changing the wires is not as difficult.
In any case, in shouldn't be all that difficult to fit an ignition close enough to an engine where the existing HT lead will reach the spark plug. This seems to be a problem more germain to people trying to fit tiny gas engines into tiny planes. It's not an issue at all with larger engines and planes. Sooner or later people might determine where the desire to use gas is outweight by factors involving difficulty of fit. Step up or be satisfied with what they have.
