New OS MAX 33cc gasoline engine
I e-mailed OS max today (from their Japanese website, not the US website...) asking if any new gasoline engines were coming soon and he said that a 33cc (2stroke) engine was coming in July. He didn't give any specifics....just that it was a 33cc engine coming in July. YEAH!!!!!

DLE-55 out sells the gt-55 because it's 59% cheaper and proven to be light, powerfull and reliable.
If the gt-33 is 59% more than the DLE-30, it will cost $510!
I'll pass on anything gas that says OS on it till they get the price in line with the competition.

I've always liked OS, but agree their prices are high, especially on their 4 strokes. However, the GT55 is the same price as a DA60, albeit maybe not in the same power league. If DA came out with a 30 for $500, you can bet there'd be guys all over it....

I wouldnt pay $500 for a 30cc size DA either. I suspect that plenty of DA or nothing folks would buy it but, as Wasp stated a few other choices in the 30cc area MVVS and DLE seem to be holding their own and doing pretty well. Not to mention can be had for just over $300. Back to the OP, I too have always loved my OS glow's but, yes for a 30cc gasser to take off they would have to price it in line with the other 30cc engines to make a big dent. I have yet to see a single plane at the field with the OS 55cc'r on it. A big part of it is probably due to the fact that DA is right here in Tucson and the fact that once again, other choices that have had a good track record can be had for far less. just my .02.

Two comments.
OS generally makes very good engines.
They price them as if many of the pieces were made of pure gold.

OS doesn't set their engines' prices in the US. The importer does. Back when World Engines sold the distributorship to the current importer, the prices increased by a third the very next day. I haven't bought nearly as many new OS engines since then. If I do buy one today, it is usually a recently manufactured rendition of an older four-stroke (FS-30 or 40). I'm not paying those ridiculous prices for the Alpha Series.

On that note, why aren't the gas engine manufacturers using aluminum connecting rods, at least in the smaller 20 and 30cc sizes? Just read a review in RC Sport Flyer of RCGF V2 version of their 20cc, and it has a beefy steel connecting rod. I'm sure durability comes into play, but at that displacement, I'd think more would go for the bushed or bearing'ed aluminum rod...
