Default AW Yak 120QB- 120AX or 160FX or DLE30

Hi,

I will be very soon getting a AW Yak 120 QB. I already have a 120ax, should I use the same engine or look for a 160fx or DLE30 or even the FS155 4c for that airplane? Sorry for the question, may be wrong forum as well- point is I am mostly a glow person and have absolutely no gas engine experience. There is limited gas engine experience on my field as well

once you go gas, youll never go back. get the Dle 30. think of the fuel cost difference

the DLE 20 is equivilent to a 1.20 ax and 30 =160fx if you can get it around 8#s or less the 20 is sufficient with out adding too much weight up front.... according to prop calulator a xoar 17x6 at 8400 rpm (my dle 20) puts out about 16#s of thrust

go with gas, you wont regret it

i looked up the specs.. it says 9-10 #s go with a 30 like hanko suggested to get the 2:1 power to weight ratio for good 3d

I had that plane with a OS 120 AX on it. I loved it- flew and performed beautifully.

QB Kit I would rate as very high quality as well as support from Aeroworks.

The plane , unfortunately, has gone to meet its higher power in the sky.

Since then I have gone to gas and have both a DLE 20 and 30 . The 20 would be the equal of the OS 120 AX and 30 would exceed it.

But the ease of use of gas and gas engines as well as the price of fuel would be the deciding factor for me .

Once I learned what I needed to know to install gas engines in my glow planes . Gas became a non issue.

I am slowly running out my supply of glow fuel and once gone - I will be all gas . Except for a few small planes needed to fly at field that do not allow gas.

i have the same plane with a 26 evolution petrol i think a dle 20 is to small the dle 30 will not be a easy fitt as stand offs to long but will fitt this is why i went with the evolution as on nitro mounts and no cutting the fire wall if you are 3d flying dle 30

I have no experience with the 26, but my guess you will be happy with dle 20 on that plane.

I built one with a DLE 30 in it. Mine turned out closer to 12lbs. than 10lbs. To me, it was a lot of weight for it's wing area, though some like flying like that. I was screwing around early in the testing phases, a little too close to the ground, and snapped it in destroying it. I won't build another at that size/weight. FWIW

im not trying to talk the OP out of getting an aeroworks plane... but this is another option to consider... the hybrid yak http://www.valleyviewrc.com/estore/v...k-pro-red.html mine came in at 8.4#s RTF (no gas) using a berkley fish scale

I fly a QQ 73"Yak with the DLE-30 and love it!
Tons of power, and great on the slow landings too!!

I have the AA 120 Yak with a DLE 30 and its one of my best flying planes. It has plenty of wing surface to fly this plane with the DlE. I had to cut down the firewall to use my rear carb DLE but it was not hard.If I ever crash this plane I woulg get another one and reuse my DLE. Hope this helps.

I am looking up NGK CM6 plugs locally and talking to AW to give me a package deal with the engine and airframe. Lets see...
